I am not an Obama fan at all but I wanted to say how proud I am that the country has voted in the first black President.

Racism be damned.

I have no problem with a black president. I just hope he makes wise decisions. We need a president that will ignore partisanship, and do what is right for all. I wish him wisdom, and good luck. He will need both. :D

Tough to argue with this sentiment. Although I must say that I was VERY disappointed to see the votes according to race in some states (80% of white people in SC voted for McCain). Oh well. At the end of the day, Obama probably got as many votes for being black as votes he lost for being black. I'm not a huge Obama fan but hope that he helps this country out of the dreadful position we're in!

Now what I'm really hoping is that race pimps like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will go away for awhile.

I think Obama will be a complete disaster as POTUS, but watching him this morning cast his vote with his 2 daughters really moved me. What an incredible moment for him, for our country and for all African-Americans who have been waiting for this moment. As an overly sensitive/emotional type, I get what it means to them.

barack obama is an intelligent man. just the way he has run his campaign, especially his actions during the bail out days, shows his level of thoughtfulness, control and intelligence. he will not be a disaster. he'll uphold the constitution as our president is supposed to. there is always mexico, europe, canada, etc for those of you that think the u.s. will fall apart.

As if it would make one shred of difference to you, Lula. The constitution is flawed because it doesn't address redistribution of wealth - i believe the word he used was "tragic". Look it up if you're interested. I need to go pick up my daughter from work.

Another classy post from a classy guy.

I would hope that the Dems on this board would have done the same.

Just like he doesn't wear a flag pin, or recite the pledge of allegiance....etc.
Barb is distorting, (or more likely parroting a distorted version of) Obama's professorial comments on civil rights and the Warren court.
You guys threw the kitchen sink at this guy and despite it all, America chose him and his radical ties over Bush brand Conservatism.
Says it all right there.

I listened to his words, his interview. I am not distorting a damn thing and you know it. The only reason you would even say that is because you agree with him.

Every presidential election is historical. Each incoming president faces daunting tasks. I wish President Elect Obama much success and a cast iron stomach. It will be interesting to see how much popularity of this choice remains within the year. Here is to the hope that Americans actually push to enact the change they seemingly want so much. Time will tell.

Congratulations to President Elect Obama. Election well done.

I had this argument just the other day with a friend of mine who proceeded to spend an hour running various Google permutations for the quote where Obama says he "dislikes" or "hates" the Constitution.
Doesn't exist.
If he said it, post the quote.

the original post didn't say "dislikes" or "hates", it said tragic. good try "changing" the facts to make your argument.

what i found was a quote "fundamentally flawed" and it appeared to be about civil rights and judges. quite the article written about law and physics, been cited in some cases. too tired to go into much more. i think the "doesn't much like our constitution" is a stretch, call it semantics i don't care. we are in a great place tonight. our country has elected our 44th president and united in the desire to move away from the failed policies of bush and his cronies. history has been made and i couldn't be more proud. i'll continue believing that obama is indeed a good man and will uphold the constitution as he serves his country.

Agreed. Race, sex, hair color, left vs. right hand... it doesn't matter to me. what the person demonstrates through his actions is all that matters.

don't confuse a win with united. So far, 38 million+ people voted for the other guy. A win for Obama, yes. United, far from it.

okay then only some of us want to move away from the failed policies, a plurality. feel free to suck on your sour grapes and fight the shift to move forward.

didn't say dislikes or hates, as you just made my point. Not sure what purpose it would serve other than to try to make Barb appear to have said something she didn't.

You only need to read the left column. Jobs lost under Bush - 2 million. Jobs added under Clinton - 3 million. Case closed.
