Is it just me, or does it appear that "Classic Rock" is dying away. We have AC/DC making news, but the summer concert tours are over and not much news on the future. No word on new recording sessions, next year's tours, etc. Classic Rock is not taking a page out of the NFL playbook that keeps professional football in front of the fans all year long. I guess this may seem crazy to even say after the success Journey enjoyed on their last tour.

I have not one concert on my calendar. This sucks.

I haven't read much of anything recently in Andrew's news briefs about the classic acts (that I have heard of anyway). It's the longest dry spell that I can remember. I admit I am ready for new music, but I've got to find time to check these obscure or new bands out.

Have the current incarnations of the bands with new members run their course?

Is there anything on the horizon to get the classic rock fans fired up?

What would get you fired up?

Help me here. I can't take anymore political shit. I once came to this site for music information and entertainment. Both seem to be disappearing (no fault to Andrew...other than the ban of one of my favorite entertainment sources who will remain nameless).

I think many are just getting too old to do it, but there are still a bunch of great acts that have toured recently or are touring who are very much worth seeing, including:

Dennis DeYoung
Bachman/Cummings (The Guess Who)
Asia
Chicago
Def Lepp
Eagles
Blue Oyster Cult
Bryan Adams
Eddie Money
Tom Petty
Bruce Springsteen

All of those acts, with the exception of The Eagles and Bachman/Cummings have been through Cleveland/Ohio recently as part of medium to large tours and don't seem to be "hanging them up" for good anytime soon... but this is typically a dry spell for concerts anyway. But yea, enjoy em while they last. Some of them won't be able to do it much longer.

Sorry, I was just listening to my Madonna CD. What did you say about classic rock?

There's news....except us old foggies don't watch mtv or listen to the clearwater bs. So the commercial market as far as advertising is very slim.

which reminds me.i was peaking at the billboard number one hits for this entire decade and good gosh the whole thing was nothing but hip hop and r and b.yep since MTV doesn't cover anything but britney spears and game shows and radio doesn't play anything without a dance hook it seems that rock must get by on word of mouth and web sites that are dedicated to keeping the flame burning.thing is these younger kids don't know what they are missing out on.i have my four and three year old listening to stuff like journey and ac/dc and even let them play my guitar tonight.there won't be any of that useless pop stuff played here if i can help it.

by the way my daughter won't even look at my CD'S but is facinated by my albums and loves the album covers especially the journey ones.thing is they don't package or present music like they used to.the fun isn't there anymore.especially when the younger generation of kids can either download stuff or just watch it on the internet.

That's funny, I've heard them all on so-called classic rock radio, both syndicated and satellite. Several times. Just cuz it's not Led Zeppelin or The Doors doesn't mean it's not CR.

Nitpicking about who belongs in what genre, especially one as broad as "classic rock," is fucking stupid.

I hear most of them played fairly regularly on the classic rock stations I listen to. Not of all their stuff, mind, you, but I definitely hear them.

KLOS "the home of classic rock" here in la/oc has most if not all these bands on their playlist.

For me they suck because work is beyond hectic and I don't always have the money to get everyone everything I want to get them. And evidently Santa Claus isn't real.

Funny, I was just thinking the opposite. I've probably seen more classic rock type material this past year than I have in years. If you're waiting for the big acts in the arenas then you are missing out on lots of great shows still out there. Alot of the classic rockers are still out there playing. Just in smaller venues. Lots of 70s/80s/90s rockers still playing. LOL, ya SJ it isn't about numbers, I don't need thousands of people around me to enjoy some great rock. April Wine, Honeymoon Suite, Rik Emmett, BOC, etc. and many many more still out there. Heck Scrap Metal are great shows with 80s/classic rocker guests.

where have you been this year...
they go out spring and summer... and take a break this time of year, UI bet news ramps up in january... plus artist like Bon Jovi went country..

I hear ya. Each of those recently played a casino here. So keep your eyes open on those smaller venue shows too. Heck I enjoyed more of the smaller venue shows I saw this past year than I did the big arena ones like Bon Jovi.
