Sound Capture

Here's a nice little program I came across that allows users to record ANYTHING that is currently being played through their speakers...I was initially looking for a way to download songs on MySpace....to no avail. Then I came across this. And now I'm able to record these otherwise undownloadable tracks.

ENJOY!

There goes any future royalties for me and any other artist out there!  The internet can be an awesome tool for promotion (as well as music production), but when I hear about stuff like this I cringe! At least the sound quality will be somewhat downgraded so anyone wanting to REALLY hear quality songs will still have to purchase them.

Not trying to bust any monies for you, or anyone else, Jim....just trying to sample some music. :D

I understand where you're coming from, and it can be tempting to download songs you really want to hear. I've done it myself, but I've made it a rule to never download something that I can pick up in a store or off of I-tunes. The only time I'll partake is if it's a rare recording, or something out of print that I just can't find (without paying some asshole on Ebay $40 for a cd). Speaking of which...WTF is Jimi Jamison's new cd not available in the freaking U.S? I'm not paying 28 damn dollars for a cd!??? :x Guess I'll be waiting for that one to release over here!

I may be old fashioned (or just crazy) but I look at my cd's as a collection. I own over 800 cd's (God knows how much I've spent on them), and almost all of them are 80's rock. I own every cd that Journey has released, and try to support my favorite artists to the best of my ability.

I don't want to sound like Metallica here...but I definitely feel their pain. I think they just went about it the wrong way.

Which sites are the most reliable sources for rare recordings?

I want Neal's Schon and Hammer CD 'No More Lies', but it's out of print
and it starts at $87 on the Amazon.ca Sellers site. I bought 'Voice' and
'Beyond the Thunder' and love them, but I like his voice too. It's time he
did another solo project where he does the vocals!

I was using Jet Audio when NAPSTER went to their pay service and had full songs up as samples. It was neat but very time consuming due to recording in realtime.

There is no US record label for that release, as far as I know. Don't think there was for the last Survivor album either. Jamison doesn't have any popularity draw here as a solo artist, and 99.8% of the people don't even know who he is. As good as it is, there really isn't anything there that would have a prayer of being played on current radio anyway.

There is good news however. Go to www.nehrecords.com
Used them many times, and never a problem--and it isn't $28 either!!!

This isn't a new concept.

I've used Audacity to do this for a long time.

Why the hell don't they at least get it on iTunes? There's no excuse in this day and age to not make your album available globally in some shape or form.
