Steve Perry created more energy with his voice than any amount of mic flipping, fire spitting or running around ever could. I may not like all of their voices but that's a pretty good list, when it comes to stage presence. Hutch was pretty underrated when it came to big name frontmen, but gawd was he mesmerizing to watch perform. What a loss.

I'm gonna take an unpopular stand with the kiddies on the board and say that Robert Plant was the greatest frontman in a rock & roll band, period. (I didn't say greatest vocalist).

Mick Jagger (even though I never liked more than about 4 songs by the Stones)

Those guys are all screamers, not the kind of vocalist that Perry was in Journey. Anybody that thinks Perry wasn't a great frontman better take another look at all the bootleg videos from the Escape era onward, if they didn't see him live. He had the crowds eating out of his hand.

Charisma has as much to do with being a great frontman as the vocals. Some singers have it and some are as bland as white rice.

Wrong. All three of my faves have great voices and can emote like nobody's business. But I guess you didn't understand the question, he wasn't asking who had the most incredible vocals, he was asking about showmanship/stage presence ya friggin boogernugget!

You can't be serious with this list! No disrespect to your personal taste but to make a statement like "great singer but not a great showman" about Perry ignores the most important part of a frontman, in my opinion. If you can't carry a fucking tune, then what's the point? You can keep that stiff Jagger and I'll take Perry all day long. Kudos to Jagger for making a 40 year career with a shit singing voice, but I still think the guy sucks and couldn't win a Karaoke contest. By the way, as big of a Van Halen fan as I've always been, I'll take Hagar all day long over Roth. Sure, Roth was a showman, but the problem is that he was all showman, and not much else. Hagar had a great stage presence but could actually sing!
