Shit Art - Cloaca Machine
I was just watching a program about the Belgian conceptual artist Wim Delvoye. It got me thinking about what art really is. It's a question that is asked so much that it can become boring even thinking about it. But his Cloaca machine forced me to ask myself what art is again.
It's a machine that mimics the human digestive system, from the mouth to the bottom hole. Delvoye feeds Cloaca normal human food and shit comes out the other end. The end product is wrapped in plastic and sold to adoring art collectors.
There have been several versions of his cloaca machine, with the latest being a vertical system that works more like a person.
According to the website dedicated to his shit making machine, they have all sold out, with one hundred pieces being kept for "future capitalization".
He isn't the first artist to use feces to create art either, as the Italian artist Piero Manzoni became famous for canning his own waste and calling his works "Artist's Shit". The MoMA has one.
I can't imagine owning any of the works, but it does make one think about art and the people that buy it.

On the topic of "younger generation". I took my daughter to see Twilight the movie a couple weeks ago.
So of course after buying her the books I had to see what her fascination was. I picked up the first book and
didn't put it down for 2 days. In a weeks time I read all 4 books that she had.

Sadly, I'm just as intrigued as she is by the next movie. I get dragged to alot of movies and this
one was actually worth seeing.

"Reality" TV is out of control. The problem is, people watch it and it's like a bad wreck, you don't want to look but you just HAVE to. I got so pissed off at myself that I got hooked on "Rock of Love" and then "Real Housewives of Orange County" stupid, ridiculous shows...I can feel my IQ fall as I watch them.

i'll be 34 here in a couple weeks and i think this whole thing goes back to the 90's.i can remember having great music,movies and pretty good schools too growing up in the 80's and feeling pretty safe with no worries and having a good attitude and outlook for the future.in the 1990's when the gangster rap with talk of killings and murders,reality shows,jerry springer with trailer trash and making a mockery of people cheating and breaking up relationships and alternative stuff like kurt cobain constantly whining and making an art out of and making it cool to give up on life and be strung out on heroin than all these kids get influenced by that.kids had nothing to be influenced by and of course by the end of the 90's you had dumbed down stuff like britney spears and crap like limp bizkit.

I watched the Rock of Love show out of curiosity the other day. He had a whole line of air headed girls, ( a few had some sense, but not many) taking them on tour, supposedly to find "true love". He said if it doesn't work this time he will give up. Try some classier ladies! One drank a lot threw up and french kissed Brett afterwards.........only time I thought the show had some comedy to it! LOL! He talked about the taste of her kiss he could not put his finger on! LOL! One was so drunk at the elimination night she could barely stand up. Cat fights, boob shots and tacky behavior. They might be fun to "play with" but a serious lasting relationship? LOL! I love what Alice Cooper once said, "I love these guys who are married for the forth time to yet anouther stripper, and they wonder why it doesn't work out..........She's a stripper!"

Before some of you get your panties in a bunch I am not knocking all ladies who are sexily built. I just think if you want a lasting relationship, get to know her under all the icing and sillacone! See if their is anything that would intrest you once the beauty fades.

That's when the best reality TV is on...Rock of Love marathons all night long! I draw............. TV is just a noise to sleep to. I prefer talking to you guys, working on art, and being with my family. We rarely watch TV. When is the last time you just had to see a program so much you taped it? I liked Pushing Daises, but it was because it was out of the norm. It was surreal in plot, artistic sets, and had a sub plot running in every show. It was a bit escape entertainment, but just different enough. Sad the ones I like get canceled!

thanks and believe me i used to have fights back then with these idiots who would tell me that smashing pumpkins were a thousand times better than journey and that def leppard couldn't hold a candle to soundgarden,lol.so i must ask these grunge dummies here in 2009 who are more relevant these days journey and def leppard or soundgarden and pumpkins.i used to be at parties and if put on journey i'd get the rolled eyes look so everyone could play weezer.i fucking hated the 90's with an unbridaled passion.i would be told i was stuck in the eighties and i would say i would rather be stuck there than deal with what i call the 90's in a nutshell...lame.the 90's i think is where the younger generation really started getting negative and losing hope.it became cool in the 90's to hate everything and be apathetic.

30yrs ago there were doctor shows and westerns, then game shows galore and now reality shows. Dancing with the former stars that are trying to regain any attention is disgusting. The copy cat cooking shows have become just as annoying . Do any show producers have ONE new idea ? But, really there are many, many braindead watchers that create their ratings. It is just so sad.
