Sweet and Simple.. Hear why he will never be replaced.

Got some tools to increase vocal levels in songs and remove effects. The backing music sounds weird but the vox are right in your face with no effects. As close as you will get to hearing him all alone.. More to come.. And dont download unless you own it as most of us on here should or be shot.

SHes mine to come for comparison to early and deeper voiced perry.

Sweet And Simple is an extremely boring song. The vocal was impressive though.

Thanks for doing that, LD...it's interesting to hear the comparison...amazing vocals in the beginning and thats what stands out the most and I love the sound but I actually prefer the lower voice later..his voice lowered but it became more sensual....he projected more of his soul with life experience and maturity. 8)

aaww.... LD, give a loon a break  We need to hear this over and over, for posterity.

Speaking of S&S, it was one of the earliest J songs written exclusively by SP, supposedly about his experience at Lake Tahoe. Someone said it was a rip-off of a Sam Cooke song. Does have that SamCooke vibe. Wonder if anyone can find and post that song, so we can compare.

How do you get the file to download or play? All I see is an ad on the page asking me to join their service.

Just put in the code they give you on the top right, then wait 45 seconds or so for it to download.

The voice of a fucking angel. It never ceases to amaze me. His passion and emotion is 50% of it. You mix that with a killer voice and an amazing blues/rock guitar player and with keys in the mix, and you've got nothing short of magic.

Thanks!

That was weird - 99% of the page had ads, and one little box in the corner tells you to enter some code. All of the "download" buttons try to get you to download and buy their software.

You can become a member for free. The free membership will reduce the wait time to 25 seconds.

Use an Ad-blocker or better yet the Firefox browser with ABP installed. Bye, bye ads!

Thanks, LD! With headphones it's even better...such a voice. The other amazing thing is that Steve's voice could cut through above all the loudness of instruments LIVE and still sound so fantastic, so sharp. I just love "She's Mine", too - great song.

Listening to She's Mine.

F**king brilliant.

What a talent Mr Perry has.

Thanks for this LD.

Awesome! Thanks LD!
I would love for "vocal only" versions of Perry tunes to surface as they have with David Lee Roth, Freddie Mercury, etc. Until then (if that ever happens), these will hold us over.

Why thank you, Rick. :)

I never had a lesson.
I sang in my room to Steve Perry and Ella Fitzgerald albums and I worked out how to breathe and how to phrase in a way that suited my voice. His range is way too high for me - as you can hear from my Smooth stuff. I have a low range.
I haven't sung rock for some time. Been doing the jazzy type stuff and 80's hits like Eurythmics etc in our show for a while now.
I think Journey songs are really better left in the key in which they were created - and I don't have the depth of tone on the high notes that I have on the low, so I know my limits and stick to them.
Maybe I should revisit some rockier stuff.
I feel like a change.

:D

Listening to Steve's voice 'raw' like this is similar to how your own voice sounds through the headphones when you are in a recording studio.

It's kinda weird the first time you try it. Takes a while to get used to it as well.

I personally ask for a bit of reverb effect to be put on my voice so I don't sound quite so raw. It helps me sing better I think.
