OT: Adam Lambert on Idol

I think this guy is a kickass singer/performer, and will probably have a great future in the recording industry:

Every once in a while Idol comes out with a rocker. This dude has a fighting chance to win for sure.

I hope the video doesn't get pulled by Fox. Here's another one just in case:

What about this one? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef69kYqOqac

Haha, not a fan. My ears hurt after listening to that performance.

Actually I reckon Jorge Nuñez is perhaps the finest singer there, best stand out voice IMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsWo43dURJg

Who would've guess it?

Oh well - Elton John, Rob Halford, Freddie Mercury, and other great artists are/were gay. It's commonplace nowadays.

I think the dude will go far. He may be a little fruity, but he's got the chops. Check this one out:

I bet my neice the first time I heard him that he would win. He stole the show last night. Who says he gay? I hope not. I think someone just started that out of jealousy. That would break a lot of girls hearts. :(

He's gay, there are pictures all over the internet of him kissing a guy, but who cares? He's as natural a performer as I've seen in a long time and has, by far, the best voice on the show. And it's not really close.

Adam will not win....He's a niche singer. He screams everything.

My bet's on Alison, Matt, Danny, and Megan(damn she is a hottie!)

If I had to pick one: Alison

INXS is looking for a new singer.....Adam would fit that perfectly.

Funny. I picked him from the get-go. He's got the look...he's almost too pretty. And, he's got the voice for it.
Who knows. If nothing else, maybe INXS will pick him up as their next singer.

later~

Adam's the best singer, by far. How America votes is anybody's guess. The gay thing will cancel itself out. Many will vote for him because of it and many won't vote for him because of it. Even if he doesn't win, he'll have the best career. Think about how Clay Aiken killed Reuben after the show.

And although he CAN really scream, he has a subtle voice to that we'll be hearing soon. He's the best singer on the show.

Watched AI for the first time last night. I thought this guy and the guy with the glasses were really good. I've only heard Adam sing last night, but if he's versatile at all, he will/should win. I said the same thing about Daughtry and was amazed when he didn't win. I was more amazed that Taylor Hicks won. Blech...

Here's my problem with AI...

The show is humongously popular. Not sure if the popularity has waxed or waned since the beginning or not. Anyway, each each year they add more rounds, stretching out the program by weeks....they make MOST of their money DURING the run of the show. Advertisements, whathaveyou.

The contestents probably sign part of their lives away to Simon Fuller, and I'd bet everyone in the top 12(13) has the opportunity to make a record, and AI will get a cut. It's a win-win for Simon and Idol....

I've wrestled with just what, or who determines the actual winner. I mean, you could say that the voting is a sham and in reality the judges and/or Fuller really pick the winner. I mean you can't let somethng as important as this be reliant on the voting public? Can you?

On the other hand, why not allow the public to vote? They're the ones who are going to buy these CDs, and attend AI concerts and shit....

Let's run down past winners:

Kelly Clarkson - 1st winner a few albums, basically fell off the planet.
Reuben Studdard - WHO?! Exactly
Fantasia Barrino - Again WHO? Nice trick playing the single mother card.
Carrie Underwood - most talented so far...
Jordin Sparks - another WHO? Not very original, boring....Melinda Doolittle was far and away the best talent that season.
Taylor Hicks - Are you kidding me? Did you actually think he was the next Michael McDonald?
David Cook - BORING! Can you tone down the Guyliner, Dave?

3 guys, 4 girls....Hmmmm? You think the next winner will be a guy?

Another thing is that 6 girls and 6 guys make it to the final 12...I can't help but think this is to get the gender advantage. Guys and girls voting. What a crock!

What if there were better girl singers this year, why couldn't there be 8 girls out of 12 in the final?

Idol makes MOST of the money from ADs, and voting.....whoever wins is just gravy.

AI is batting 2 out of 7....not a very good ratio.....sometimes I wonder about this show. Are we all suckers?

MS, there is a definite difference between having a voice, and knowing how to use it.....

Adam may have a great voice, but he doe not know how to sing, let alone to his advantage.

Adam is very good, but I can't stop thinking of Condrad Birdie from the movie, "Bye, Bye Birdie"...I think it is his theatrical flair & lip curling. He comes from musical theater and I think that is where he will end up, not as a Rock n Roll singer. Allison, the 16 yr old Rocker girl is very good, too and has a really mature stage presence. I thought Alexis Grace was great a few weeks ago when she did a bluesy song, but last night it wasn't as great. Kris with the guitar will stay on 'cuz of his appeal with the teen girls. I think the girl, Megan? with the arm tattooed needs to be voted off next...she's awkward.

I am very disappointed in Idol this year. The talent this year has to be the worst in the 8 seasons of the show and this Adam OMG he screamed the song and it was just horrible. What the hell was wrong with Paula last night? When she was talking about Adam she sounded like she had tipped the bottle to much before the show last night. 8) She rambled on and on and on.

Adam Lambert is definately one to watch this season. I didn't think his vocals were that strong this week, but last week he totally blew away the field. That guy comes out on stage like a ready-made, bonifide "star". Gay, not gay - doesn't matter. He commands your attention. At this point he seems to be the front-runner, but we all know the voting can get a litte hinky at times. Who could have imagined Chris Daughtry getting canned?

My fav this season is Anoop. His performance this week was piss-poor and it might get him turfed, but I really like the guy and I hope he survives to the next round.

Boy, I dunno, most of the singers were pretty darned good. I couldn't get into the noopa dude or the Rockin Robin gal, but most were pretty decent.

Ha. I hear that EVERY GIG. I swear to God. In fact, when I Intro the band at the end of the night, I just say "I'm Dana Carvey". Nobody cares who I am anyway, so it's fine. Actually, the band you're watching is my normal, casino band that I've been with for 11 years. Um, I think I've had that damned silver shirt as long! My new project is an acoustic duo that the casino asked us to put together. So we play the big shows with The Machine (the band you saw) and then little shows with the acoustic deal (beatles and those kinds of things). It's very fun to do the acoustic thing. Very 'seat of the pants', 'Shaw/Bladess' kind of atmosphere. You can check that out at thestickmen.net. It's JUST getting off the ground. It's been a bit rough to get it going, but it's so fun just to play and sing harmonies and not have to worry about how danceable something is.

Thanks Larry. Coming from you that means a lot.

I listened to your acoustic music. That was fantastic. I like the Shaw/Blades vibe.
