OT: U2 360 Tour

Tickets went on sale today for three U.S. shows on the U2 360 Tour, and all three were instantly sellouts. They sold 82,000 seats for Giants Stadium, 72,000 seats for Gillette Stadium and 65,000 seats for Soldier Field. All three cities already added a second date. I managed to snag a ticket for the September 12 Soldier Field show, which is the first date of the U.S. leg of the tour. Only $48 after Ticketmaster fees.

This is going to be a crazy tour. Here's a picture of the stage setup that they are going to have:

It's going to take 120 trucks to get the stage from city to city. Anybody else have any luck getting a ticket yet? The rest of the U.S. venues go on sale in the coming weeks.

No State Fairs for them I guess. Only three shows so far on their U.S. schedule that I can see.

I am pleasantly surprised tickest were that low. How can they "afford" to truck around that kind of a stage setup and NOT RAPE THE AUDIENCE???

Heard on the radio today they will also be playing at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa in October.

They've probably got some exclusive money making things going on that we don't know about.

The tour is sponsored by BlackBerry. I'm sure that's how they can do it.

One hundred and twenty trucks. ...My God. In this economy... wasting all that diesel. For something as superfluous as a gargatuan stage like that?
...Just another reason to not care for U2.

Soldier Field night one is September 12, but other than that that looks like the correct updated list. Spring 2010 is the next leg of the U.S. Tour. 90-100 shows when this tour is all said and done.

Naturally all the GA field tickets were sold out instantaneously (yet there's tons on ebay). Fuck you, ticketmaster. I hope your entire company dies in a fucking fire.

I'll be there. On the field. Somehow.

Just ordered pre-sale tickets today for Georgia Dome, got the medium priced tickets at $95 each, 2nd (club) level close to stage. Haven't seen them since the Joshua Tree tour (87, I think).

I wish they would take on Azoff like Bruce did. Bono has the same amount of pull as Bruce does.

Azoff is amazingly slimy. He is hard to catch to be sure.

Soldier field supposedly sold 70,000 tickets in 5 minutes which is bullshit. 50,000 were sold as pre-sale before tickets "were officially for sale" For $50, u2.com provides you with a pre-sale password, ebay users were selling password for $1. I googled it, and paid nothing for password.

Ticketmaster put validation controls to stop scalpers from buying huge bulks of tickets which has worked but it is too easy to get presale these days and ebay/stubhub users buy a lot of tickets to resell for a huge profit. Ticketmaster also has a site to resell tickets.

Walrus, the Atlanta U2 show will officially sell out on Monday and they will add another date so you will have another chance to get tickets at face value (try to get the pre-sale password) it will only help your chances.
