Been seeing the T.V. ad advertising AT&T with the song playing in the background.
The ad prints out Any Way you Want It and then states it as well. It's not Arnel's version
either. :D

My girlfriend called me this morning all excited about the ad and told me she heard
Don't stop Believin... I earlier reported that, and then kept seeing only the version of Any Way You Want it myself.
So, I called her back and asked her about what she saw this morning, and now she isn't sure if she heard Don't Stop Believin or the other.
She isn't a fan, but knows I am, so forgive me and her............ perhaps there are other versions, but not sure now after talking with her again.

I've been hearing the old Journey songs on the radio much more these days too. Wonder what is going on. Do you
think it is some of the recent success of Journey causing some new interest overall? :?

I think its Journey getting alot of attention in the entertainment industry like being featured on the sapranos, laguana beach, family guy, and many other television shows. The best way to expose an artist to new people and help the older fans remember how good a band was and is, is to put their music on television. As a result Journey's popularity has really gone up within the last few years. More movies include their songs and even sports teams are adopting their music, such as the Chicago White Sox using "Dont stop believen". Then with all the new hype, popularity, and recognition they picked a perfect time to release a new album, which people bought like crazy. I think just maybe Journey is finally getting some of the respect they had never got when they were in their prime with Perry.

The movies "Yes Man", "Bedtime Stories", and I've also heard "Monsters Vs Aliens" all have a Journey song in the main Movie. :)

Maybe Steve MF Perry's involvement with Monster might have provided him with some additional music direction gigs with the studios.
We know he must be doing something in music and he does like production. I would not be surprised if that is what is going on, why we are seeing more and more
Journey music showing up this way. Anyway you want it, it's cool!! :D

Hmm... I saw an AT&T wireless commercial last night only it was "Any Way You Want It"... and the song title was also the slogan.
Are they doing a series of spots with various Journey songs? Seems a little superfluous to me. You sure you heard DSB?

I think you hear it more because the music stands up over time. A lot of 80's stuff really didn't. And if you are aiming at people our age, you want to use stuff from that era. Rush is seeing a similar thing. And Role Models had Kiss. Although, not sure that Kiss stuff stands up. :)

Wow... pretty cool then that they're doing that... wonder if it's just the two or if there are more?

There is also a new series on T.V. that has a Kasabian song as their theme, from one of their older albums. :D
Can't remember the name of the t.v. series.

I was curious about that. Having read of Perry's protective nature when it comes to the use of (Perry-era) Journey music in ads, the use of DSB in a commercial would have represented a major sea-change. Now that would have opened up a whole new discussion.

Yes. I was confused on this issue too. Luckily, we have a bevy of knowledgeable posters on MR, one of whom offered clarification in another thread on the same issue. I'd like to post the link to it, but I don't know how.
