To be fair though, most of uz think Steve Perry is a knob.

Very good, but can't touch Perry, Houston 1981.

Not even freakin' close.

Still waiting to hear Arnel TRY and sing Mother, Father. Anybody got a clip of it? Nope.

Do I claim to have? No. I don't speculate on SP's personality, just because I know what he's been doing in the studio.

What's your point? To call someone a name is silly if you don't know them personally.

And where did you "see" him at that time? On stage? Or did you talk to him? I'd think you'd have to know someone to think they were a knob.

When I saw the Wheel in the Sky video on MTV, I thought Perry was gay and Neal was the coolest MF on the planet with that big ass fro of his.
I don't care of if SP is knob or a bob, He could flat out sing. They would have done more shows in England , except you guys were really starting to dig the Clash and and Bands like that. Nobody wanted to book an American band if they weren't going to tell the Queen to fuck off or Down with the bloody Tories.

So is getting flustered when someone judges someone you don't know. That's my point. So people think Perry's a knob. They could be wrong, they could be right. No use coming to Perry's defense if you don't know him. That's all.

I hate everybody equally, it's the only way to be if you don't want to be accused of favoritism.

I got bored waiting for Friga to finish tickling the ivories. I think he needs to get himself a big candelabra for his piano.

OK, Dan... I gave it a chance. I had to skip over Friga's solo, 'cause... well, he's Friga. Neal's solo was wicked good, but the facial expressions need to stop. They're a little scary. Arnel started out pretty strong, IMO, but by the time he got to the chorus, he lost me. I didn't feel any emotion from him, and that song is one that although TOTALLY overdone usually gets me somewhere. There were a few enunciation issues that I noted, and I think if he were singing songs in his native language (and if I knew the language) his voice would absolutely knock me out.

Now... try this version and well, there's just no comparison. Nostrildamus still does it for me!!!

Dan,

You know I love you dude but you're way fucking up here. We're you drinking while typing and listenting to this? This performance is shit, bottom line. You really can't hear Arnel and when you can, the basturd is detuned. The song means fuck all when it's not sang in the orginal key. It just doesn't have the same meaning or convey the same emotion. The song is down a half step or more ... it blows.

Here's the proper way the song is supposed to sound live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfYInIWoO1k

I will not accept these fucks in detuned mode, period. Fuck them and their new singer who is now not cutting it. Perry may have been a fucking prick and all weird about his voice but its understandable. The dude was on the edge of fucking up every night. No one can touch him, NO ONE.

Aaron

I dislike the song anyway. whoever sings it. :P Neals new solo sends me into orbit. wow. THAT is why I go to Journey concerts.

this is a Power ballad. untouchable. I cried at all three shows last year during this song. absolutely beautiful. (and I ain't no ballad girl neither)

I have to agree with Donna. No contest. Perry made it seem so effortless. Seems the biggest difficulty he had was keeping from accidentaly inhaling the microphone. I agree SJ Arnel did pretty well about 100 times better than the last guy. It just seems really forced by Arnel, I think Journey now falls in the "buy the new cd, but pass on the tour" catagory for me.
