I don't think so, some people freaked out got very upset and started calling Madsplash a stalker and saying he was invading SP's privacy etc. MS had second thoughts and voluntarily asked Andrew to delete his posts. Next thing I knew the thread was locked and all Splashy's posts were gone. And then the whole thread disappeared.

Wait, wait, wait. Madsplash had proof of Perry's surgery?

Could've been Steve Tyler/Joe Perry or the man himself. No one knows.

Unfortunately I only got halfway through page 1 of 3 of the thread before it vanished.

Apparently there was some communication in place with Perry's vocal cord doc? It seemed surreal...

I know I saw the thread this afternoon yet. Up to 10 pages and was so far off topic that it was way past pluto. Never did get to read all of it. But the stalker talk was way off base from the little bit I could read and from what I know about release of information. But I am glad it was deleted.

Well, SC you've been around here longer than I and you probably know Splash's MO so it could very well have been a prank. As for me, I tend to take things at face value, I took it exactly for what it appeared to be. Splash went too far, posted it something he shouldn't have, got his hand slapped then he tucked tail and ran. Andrew promptly removed the evidence. But I could be wrong. Either way it really makes no difference. I do agree with you about one thing. He certainly stirred things up!

I was fortunate enough to get through most of it before it went away. I thought the stalker stuff was a little over the top, too.

For those who missed it here's the recap from what I could glean: MS contacted a notable voice coach to ask her if he COULD ask her opinion on SP's voice. The coach offered to get back to MS with her opinion, however, she included in her response the name and contact information of a doctor in Boston who has developed some new voice restoration procedure. As the thread went on, it appeared the voice coach may have confused Steve Perry (Journey former lead singer) with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, who, perhaps not coincidentally, had the procedure with this doctor.

I, for one, applaud MS's intrepid nature. He had a question, he sought an expert opinion. He may have jumped the gun by not waiting for a a more clear-cut response from the expert.

I did some digging and NOT to any doctors.

This comes from a very credible source. Take it as you will..

Steve has recorded tons of songs over the last 8 years or so and and has plenty for an album however it is unknown if art is done or which songs have been decided upon.

Steve's voice is at least as good as 1984/86 due to therapy of an undisclosed type but probably not consistent enough for a tour.

He may release it this year but probably 2010 and he has recut vocals on songs he recorded over the last 8-10 years due to the improvements in his voice.

All the times Steve is showing up at studios and working with other bands served a dual purpose as Steve was looking for collaboration and opinions on his material.

Take with a grain of salt as I did when I was given the info. The person that gave me this info has "predicted" (knows but wont say anymore than "I predict") and has been right 100% of the time about other things. This individual acts as if he/she says too much that Perry is going to send hit men or something !!

WHat is he a fucking mobster or something ? I mean we know he is a pimp from the avatar but geesh !!

Former journalist in Southern Ca, for a large rock mag BTW.

That is all I know and I dont know how much is true or not. Just chew on it and hope for the best. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS ANY THING MORE THAN RUMOR. I can not vouch for this person but can say they (yes they) have "predicted" stuff in the past and been right including tour dates before they were even published anywhere. So.... Here we stand so patiently.

No, that's all credible, as most of that information has been stated on here in bits and pieces, except the info about using older songs from the last eight years and recutting vocals, and that his voice isn't consistent enough to tour. It confirms that a CD should be released by next year at the lastest and probably no tour to follow. I would hope some appearances just to see him live after all these years, at least, on TV if not in concert. I don't get all this secrecy and privacy unless he wants the option to not release it if he changes his mind. He was never hush hush about his other solo work.

You know what, he will release another CD. And it will be another re-packaged Greatest Hits CD + a few other unreleased tracks, and probably demos from the early 90's period.

And I will seriously laugh if and when that happens.
