Neil Peart is not the "original drummer."

I think only ZZ Top, King's X and U2 qualify.

The Police, too, I guess. They had a different guitarist before Andy Summers, but Andy's on every album so he may as well be the "original guitarist."

Air Supply?

Maybe Aerosmith? Not sure but I think they're the same guys from the 70's.

Good catch on Rush, John Rutsey was the original drummer I think.

How about Triumph? Didn't they regroup since the split in the 80s?

It's really amazing about U2. They've been together since they were teens. They had years where Bono and the Edge wanted to branch out and do different things, but worked through it and stayed together. What I find interesting is they all make equally the same in the band, an even split, and I believe that also includes their longtime manager. I felt egos would take over as the years have gone by, but they seem to be a strong nucleus. Only Bono's activism at times they felt was beginning to overshadow their music and wanted to reign him in on that and keep the music to the forefront.

Bruce and the E Street Band at it's core has stayed the same I believe.

Isn't Iron Maiden still running the same line-up since the 80's with the addition of one member? (Yes, I know Paul DiAnno was the original vocalist, but he only had one 'hit' with the band).

I caught Bernie a few years back in a small bar... very underrated. Great musician.

Besides Paul, Maiden had a previous drummer in Clive Burr, whom Nicko McBrain replaced (to the band's benefit, IMO, though Bruce has said he liked Clive's heavy-handed style for metal). Adrian Smith left, replaced by Janick Gers from Bruce's first solo album, and then Adrian later came back. Nice of them to let Janick stay, but that's one guitarist too many. The line-up that recorded the last several albums of the '80s is the perfect Maiden line-up. I love A Matter Of Life And Death, though. Best album since 7th...

The addition of Janick is who I was referring to. I was not, however, aware of the other drummer. Thank you for the info!

Oh, yeah, Bruce was gone for a few years in the 90s, too. His replacement was Blaze Bayley from the band Leatherwolf. I wasn't too surprised Steve & Dave chose that guy.

That *IS* surprising. I could never get into U2 because Bono always came across to me as one of the most arrogant people in popular music with his "we have the greeatest show on earth" routines.

For all of Bono's ego and ultra- activism, when it comes to selling out shows, U2 does "Walk the walk".

I'm sure Bono is no more arrogant the Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Perry, etcl. Some just put forward a more humble persona to the public.

Yeah... all the guys that don't matter and most people have never heard of. With Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, and Glenn Frey in there - it's still the Eagles to me because they have all the original vocals, guitars, drums, and keyboards that they need to make it sound authentic.

Now Journey, on the other hand, is a different story. When you lose the lead vocalist that made all the hits, there is no way the band can sound truly authentic.

Sorry, they're not in the same league because they lost their lead vocalist - the Eagles haven't.
