At this point, Steve Perry could recite the telephone book and I would buy it.

Maybe Steve Perry will do a concept album that rocks more than Eclipse just to get Neal's goat. Just kidding!

Whatever Steve Perry does, I want to hear it. I know he won't do a Metalica album. It will be a Steve Perry album. I think I know what to expect. :D

I hope to hear a bit of Michael Lington on the new album.

How would this situation work? Would the musicians [who have worked on this new album] have had to sign NDA's .... or would it just be gentlemen's agreements not to discuss their work before the new album is released?

It's kind of a combination of both.. gentlemen's agreement and they know not to talk about it... especially if they want to work in the future.

Gosh, can you imagine the buzz, once album is released, getting to hear/read all the reminiscence from SP’s collaborators? I mean, think back through all these years, posters would find a feature article from some obscure musician talking about writing/recording/working with SP …back in the day …before he became famous …and some after he was famous. Old tracks/songs come to light. And we can’t get enough hearing SP stories.

This time will be new, current … relevant. And, since he’s let the cat out of the bag, let’s just hope people will be patient in waiting for the big news.

But, come March, if everything is quiet, someone like Wix should come in here and provide some angst to spice things up.

He could have fun with this panty-dropper ... invite a lady onto the stage to be serenaded like Phil does here. What a treasure that would be for the lucky gal

I last logged in here in April last year and there were rumours Steve was recording.
It is now nine months later and I see he is still rumoured to be recording.

All I have to say is, Steve get a bloody move on.

not so new but a flicker of hope!

Former Journey singer Steve Perry planning comeback

Former Journey singer Steve Perry is making his first solo record in 22 years.

Perry recently told Los Angeles radio station KSWD-FM he spent much of last year recording.

"The truth is, I finally went into the studio in March, and I've been in there ever since, just trying to finish this record," he said.

Perry, who hasn't made a record with Journey since 1996, released his last solo record, "For the Love of Strange Medicine," in 1994.

"I'm looking forward to finishing it, put it that way," he said. "I want to get it done probably in the early part of this coming year."

Rumors of a Journey reunion circulated in 2014, after guitarist Neal Schon publicly reached out to Perry to bury the hatchet. Both talked about working together again, but nothing has happened yet.

Sounds like someone needs to write a bigger check.

I wish Neal could say Steve Perry's name, and Steve Perry would instantly appear on stage during their concert. :D

.

When Steve Perry heard the track for 'Can't Let You Go,' he said, 'I can easily picture a vocal on that song.'

I have no doubt that Steve is frantically working to time the release of his next album to be in sync with all the RockHOF hype that will arise when Journey gets inducted next April.

If he's struggling to choose from his 50+ song arsenal :P he could add full lyrics to this instrumental. His raspy voice today matches the mood of this so well. He could even invite Neal to play.

Such beautiful soulful playing by Jeff, may he RIP.

Steve Perry is afraid to release new music. I don't know what he is afraid of. Everybody knows he won't sound like he did in the 1970's. Nobody cares about that. They just want to hear him again. He is very talented and could make some magical music again.

I think the two back to back failures in 1999 and 2000 is the reason he stopped releasing music.
When your in love and I stand alone got no airplay and I believe didn't even make the hot 100.
Even his FTLOSM garnered some success(I wish they would have released Anyway over Missing you.), even after his 1998 album got shelved.

Then why tell us that he is going to release something, if he has no intention of doing so? I am still hopeful that we will be hearing about new music, just hoping it's not too far in the future. None of us are getting any younger  :D

Yes, we've all waited with baited breath for a while now...and yes, quite a few of us have given up hope...but let's try not to get morbid about it.
