Journey/Doobie Brothers Boxscores

Are there any more listed ? The way Schon had been talking, they had mostly sellouts this tour.
I don't see 1 sellout on this list .
Maybe Schon's talking about other boxscores they haven't published yet ?
Perry's good natured bonhomie & the world’s most charmin smile, knocked fans off their feet. Sportin a black tux, gigs came alive as he swished around the stage thrillin audiences w/ charisma that instantly burnt the oxygen right out of the venue.TR.com

Yeah, I have about 4-5 more to post, but none of them are sell outs. I'm sure Detroit's Pine Knob sold out and possibly a few others, but I don't have those yet. Overall though, not as many sellouts or near sell outs as with Steve Miller. It will be interesting to sell the final total figure later this year. Journey grossed $30.3 million with Steve Miller back in 2014.

Can't wait to the AT&T boxscore too...

I can't speak for the rest, but the Irvine CA show was wall to wall. Even the lawn was full.

It seems like the numbers and percentage of seats filled are all over the place. Biggest crowd was 19k in a 26k arena. Largest sellout at 14.5k. Do they take this into consideration when booking the next tour? If so, at what level?

Looking at those numbers makes you wonder what the NET is for the performers. Journey had 6 performers this tour if you include the backup vocalist/keyboard player. Granted he isn't being paid equally to the rest of the band, but still -- lots of expenses involved in touring. Of course, those numbers don't include merchandising (hats, t-shirts, etc.) but I don't think it's the windfall it used to be.

Well, that would definitely be one way to inspire them to veer off of the dirty dozen setlist

I was at the show in Lincoln (Sacramento area) at the Toyota Amphitheater, on September 2nd. When Dave Mason came on I looked around and saw many, many empty seats. I thought to myself, this didn't sell very well. Then the Doobie Brothers came on and the place started filling up fast. I looked around and couldn't see any empty seats after awhile and the lawn area looked pretty full too. Capacity there is around 18k. It's too bad the speakers on each side of the stage were so crackly at times. That was the house's fault. They need to replace some of the speakers, as they are tired. All three bands were on their game though. I enjoyed the show.

I know a lot of places use to consider 90% tickets sold a sell out, do not know if they still do that or not.

These figures could also represent tickets that were actually sold vs promo/give-away tickets. If 25% of tickets were allotted to radio stations for give-aways, and the remaining 75% were sold, would that be considered a sell-out?

Looks like a 10k-ish venue is their sweet spot. Most of those they either sold out or were very close to it.

The bigger places were the ones that were half or 3/4 full. Not too many older bands that can sell out a 20k+ seat venue these days.
