That rumored Def Leppard/Journey co-headlining tour is on.

Def Leppard announced the tour late Thursday night. The 58-city, North American, stadium and arena trek will start in Hartford, Connecticut, on May 21 and run though an October 6 date in the Los Angeles suburb of Inglewood, California.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, February 3, at 10 a.m. local venue time via LiveNation.com.

After the shows with Journey are over, Def Leppard will be embarking on a special U.K. tour with Cheap Trick during which the band will be playing it’s classic 1987 album Hysteria in its entirety. Those dates run from a December 1 show in Dublin, Ireland, through a December 17 show in Birmingham, England.

Good for them. I'm not interested myself, but this will obviously do very well.

Wow that's a lot of dates for Jon and Neal to have to avoid as much eye contact and interaction as possible.

I hope not. We don't need Journey's set to be any more abbreviated than it already will be.

The only thing that would definitely get me to this show was a surprise EP release or Journey Through Time being the opening band...

There are some large venues on this tour. It will be interesting to see if this combo can fill them since both bands have toured to death. I'm another one who isn't particularly interested in another rehashing of the "dirty dozen." This may be the tour that kills Arnel's voice once and for all. He's been at it for a long time now.

Exactly. Comerica Park? The only way they are filling that is if Steve Perry is on this tour. Just sayin'

Last time Journey toured with Leppard they threw in a few harder tunes such as EOTB and CR. Hopefully they will do the same on this tour...Eclipse tracks????? But with the Neal & Jon situation as it is, this could be the tour that ends the band as we currently know it.

More white men to headline Fenway

https://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/n ... story.html

By Mark Shanahan Globe Staff   January 19, 2018

Looks like the parade of mostly white male performers will continue at Fenway Park this summer.

Live Nation announced Friday that Journey and Def Leppard, or what remain of the two vintage bands, will play at the ballpark Aug. 11, joining Foo Fighters and the Zac Brown Band on the concert slate at Fenway. Tickets for the show go on sale Feb. 9.

A year ago, we pointed out that since Fenway began hosting concerts in 2003, there’s been a notable lack of women and people of color who’ve headlined — the exceptions being Lady Gaga last summer and Jay-Z, who co-headlined with Justin Timberlake in 2013.

Instead, Live Nation and the folks at Fenway have focused on overripe rockers like James Taylor, Billy Joel, who’s become more or less a fixture at Fenway over the past five years, the Dead & Company, Bruce Springsteen, and the Rolling Stones.

Red Sox chairman Tom Werner has said he’s aware that Fenway shows have historically skewed older and whiter, and promoters are trying, so far to no avail, to attract more diverse artists.

Journey and Def Leppard, who were popular (and relevant) before Red Sox center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. was born, are at least promising to play their hits, which means the collective itch to hear, say, “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” “Photograph,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and “Faithfully” will be scratched.

But, no, Steve Perry will not be doing the crooning for Journey. He left the band for good in the late ’90s and Arnel Pineda now handles the high notes on “Who’s Cryin’ Now.”

In a statement, Journey guitarist Neal Schon said the concerts with Def Leppard will be “epic classic rock shows.” Depending on your point of view, that’s either good or bad.

Wonder why they are playing so many arenas? I much prefer amphitheaters. Arena sound sucks.

I was so sick of them always playing "Blossom Music Center" which is an amphitheater near Cleveland. It's a nice venue, but the traffic is insane trying to get out of there after a show. And I was hoping for them to have a change of scenery venue-wise. So I'm glad that they will be playing Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on this tour. That is if I actually go to the show this year?

I'm so poor that I have no business paying to go see Journey anymore. Plus it's not worth it if they don't play more deep-cuts on tour this summer.

Spent money last year to do the Foreigner 40th anniversary show with vip
So worth the $375
Can't really afford to do multiple Shows, packages and travel
The ticket was a gift
Unfortunately I opted to do the journey vip as well
Was more money, same set list and no meet and greet
Still wish I had done the poison/def leppard show
Comes down to spending more wisely
