They sound good. Very Zep influenced. I don’t like the vocalist though. That voice is nails on a chalkboard to me.

Man, they put out an EP and a second, no CD. Call it what you will. They put out two EP's before. The bottom line is what they deliver. Just sharing what I think is a great, young band. Why the negativity?

You "come on now": you insist they have no album and their success is entirely the result of hype and and airplay/stream.

I just checked Discogs and last year (2017) they released a 4-song EP on both disc and vinyl, and an 8-song "MiniAlbum" on Republic and Lava that got issued on CD no fewer than six times in North America, Europe and Oz.

This year (2018), they do have an album out, Anthem of the Peaceful Army. Ten songs, issued on CD five times and seven freakin' times already on vinyl in several shades including piss-yellow. Yeah, somebody's riding the wave.

"99%..." You're a serious fanboy.

Dude has balls and hangs them out. I think that's what makes him good. I worry about his longevity as well.

I'm hearing some Joplin in there too. The more i listen the more i hear. I just hope he doesn't blow a chord.

Not really. What error? They didn't have a cd out, they had an EP or two out depending on when you're talking. However, you're a right winner. You win.

And you're a dick.

Here's the data:

Black Smoke Rising, 4 song EP, released April 21, 2017

From the Fires, 8 song EP including the 4 songs from Black Smoke Rising EP, released November 10, 2017

Anthem of a Peaceful Army, 10 song CD, released October 19, 2018.

No one is upset here, just tired of uneducated right fighter people trying to bullshit people. There's the data.

I say you're dick. And you're why these forums are dying. Keep up the great work.

I don't hate them. That's a really strong word. Just let me know when they actually get around to cooking up stuff on par with "Achilles' Last Stand," "Trampled Under Foot," "The Rover," "No Quarter," etc.

Sorry you two are taking this so personally. Feel free to bag on Rush if you like. They're one of my favorite bands. It won't faze me one iota.

Touche', you got me. I was figuring it out on the fly, I still don't get the negativity but I do get why people don't participate here as much.

Naw man I'm not delusional or a fanboy. But what I see in you is a closed minded right fighter that doesn't see anyone else's view = troll.

If the average age of those guys we're 35 they would be in their Mom's basement, on Mom's payroll, eating Cheetos with an orange dick watching porn just like you, not making great new music. Like I said before, you're a dick.

You win lol.

My only conclusion is you're band member of Wolfmother or a nut swinger of that band that no one has heard of. Sorry for your luck but these kids seem to have deep talent at every position and good writing skills. We'll see how long they last, I hope a long time.

Where's your Wolfmother peeps? Eating Cheetos?

I don't get your negativity. However, I hope some here get a line a great new band.

Listen to him crack at 1:09. This is why I hate it when guys try to cover songs sung originally by talented female vocalists.

And Cake's cover of "I Will Survive" is another turd entirely, because Cake's singer has NO voice to begin with.

Throwing another hat into the ring. Anyone here familiar with White Denim? They're an indie-rock band from Austin, Texas. A very eclectic mix of 70's soul, funk, psychedelic and rock. Think Bad Company, Stevie Wonder and Sly and the Family Stone blended together. They've been around for about 12 years or so. I don't know all of their stuff, but have been playing the crap out of their 2016 Stiff album since I bought it two years ago. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, and they're definitely not classic rock. But they are tight and talented.

Funny how we all hear things different. Upon first listen: I get a Cheap Trick vibe from the first one, and a Primus vibe from the second. Not inclined to delve deeper.

My point is they are more than just a LZ soundalike band. You said up above, "You're an unabashed fanboy of a band that's copped its entire sound from LZ's first two albums." You are just flat out ignorant of the band, their history, and what they are truly influenced by.

So was I, until I started researching them a bit. Yeah, they covered "Rollin in the Deep"...and I think they did a very good job with a very tough song. But, if you keep looking, you can find them doing good covers of The Doors, Howlin Wolf, and all sorts of stuff. They are heavily blues influenced, as LZ were. When they cover Howlin Wolf, they SOUND LIKE LZ...because LZ was also heavily influenced by that type of music. There are concerts on YouTube where their dad is on harmonica...and you can absolutely tell that HIS blues influence is all over this band. I'm sure they grew up listening to their dad's music and that heavily influenced them....at least that is what they say in interview. They are much more than a LZ soundalike, cover band.

I'm not even that big of a fan of them...but I'm glad they are out there. I can hear and appreciate the band beyond the vocals...his brothers on guitar and bass are awesome. I also appreciate that they don't do a bunch of meddling with their instruments sound. So, I'm hopeful that they will continue and become something more than they are right now.

Your remark was "this doesn't sound like LZ" and you posted a cover song. Do you know how silly that is?

Not sure what you're getting so defensive over. This thread wasn't started by somebody saying they're "more than a LZ soundalike and/or cover band." GvF sounds like early Zepp when you punch in any YT concert and fast-forward through it. They're youngsters, I get it. But when somebody pushes a band like this as "better than anything else out there, right now," that's all hyperbole. I don't care that much. I'm not buying their stuff. Just funny to see people get worked up...kind of like yourself.

By the way, you contradicted yourself. You essentially said they sound like LZ because LZ was influenced by stuff they've also happened to cover. Any way you cut it, they sound like LZ. The singer wants to be Plant. I''m not hearing anything original in there. They haven't found their sound yet.

As you were.
