How do you feel about ECL1P53 14 years after the album's release?
For me, it's still in my Top 5 all time Journey albums, "Resonate" is still the album's MVP, and it's far stronger than Freedom and a fair bit stronger than Revelation.

I was so excited for a proper rock record from Journey. But for some reason it just never grabbed me. I give it a spin every few months or so and, to this day, it just leaves me cold. It has moments, but as a whole it still does not move my needle…

Too wish washy. Whether it's down to the mix, Arnel singing someone else's lyrics in a language he can't relate to resulting in a lack of ownership, or a combination of the two, I am not really sure. This goes for all Arnel albums. They lack a punch somehow. I think Freedom would actually be my pick of the lot

At least it was a little adventurous.

I go both ways on this. He puts his heart into ballads like After All These Years and even covering stuff like Open Arms. But there are def. other times where I hear what you are hearing too.

Isn't it fair to say that Eclipse was ALOT adventurous?

Eclipse is arguably on my top 3 list of favorite Journey albums. And If Schon continues on with Journey, with whatever name he may chose, I hope that he records new music that is close in style to that album. I would love it if Schon's Journey Beyond, or whatever he calls the band, would record an album that is very similar to Eclipse, but that maybe they would even throw in hints of Bad English's first album in terms of sound. And maybe hints of Hardline too.

I still don’t like it. I’ve always felt like Arnel is over singing the songs and when he goes to a level that’s in his wheel house he and the song sounds good. The songs are too long and Cain’s lyrics don’t work well with the harder rock sound they were going for. There are bits and pieces I like, but I still rank it among the worst they’ve released since Perry joined.

I don’t listen to it often but I enjoy it
Still think Tantra is one of the best things they’ve ever done, so different
To Whom It May Concern is a great mid tempo ballad
Resonate
Edge of a moment
Chain of Love
Always felt like City of Hope wasn’t the best choice for a single, the song is fine but there’s much better

Love the album myself, although there a couple tracks that I could do without. For me, Anything is Possible and City of Hope is the classic Journey sound that we all love.

I thought the band was really stretching their legs (in a good way) on this record. "She's a Mystery" was, IMO, an inspired, unique Journey track which played to Arnel's vocal strengths (though I wouldn't have included his wailing over the hard-driving guitar coda at the end).

I recently played a few tracks off of it for the first time in awhile and still dug it! "Edge of the Moment" is probably still my favorite on there. I wouldn't mind another Eclipse-sounding album, with maybe a couple of songs for Deen to sing.

I'd love that too!
One way or another, there needs to be at least one final Journey album that they release before the band transitions over to being Journey Beyond, or whatever. Even if it's an Escape or Arrival type of album. Then, hopefully after that, Neal will release an Eclipse style of album after Cain is gone.
