In a new telephone interview, Jonathan says he is thinking of staying on based on the response from fans. They plan to take a year off. Let's hope Neal can convince him to do some new music during that down time.

Here's the post.

After completing 110 shows in 2026, we’ve felt something powerful happen within JOURNEY. Playing two and a half hours each night in our “Evening with JOURNEY” shows—the longest shows we’ve ever played—has brought us closer together, both musically and personally.
Our fans have touched our hearts and helped pull us together. Your love, energy and passion for this music have reminded us how much we still share and how much this journey means to all of us.
What began as “The Final Frontier” now feels more like “The Long Goodbye.” We’re letting our hearts—and the connection we feel with you every night—help guide what comes next.
Thank you for standing with us, singing with us and giving us so many reasons to keep playing. This journey belongs to all of us.
With love and gratitude,
Neal Schon Journey Founder

Has it occurred to him that all that love, energy and passion may have been generated because many of the people who went to these shows did so because it was billed as a "Farewell Tour" AKA "The Last Time You'll Be Able to See Journey?" Or did I miss some huge cultural moment where "Wheel In the Sky" was prominently featured in an episode of Greys Anatomy and suddenly made the band a major draw?

I have come to terms with my favorite band ending. I think it is time. I think Arnel needs to actually heal. This tour began after a year off touring and Arnel was never 100%. I am actually interested in seeing Neal do something else. And until this tour Jon was a stick in the mud so I was happy he was retiring. The only way I am okay with this is if they make it the “international” farewell. Give the rest of the world a farewell, too. But then, for goodness sake, call it!

So kinda makes their "final show" in SF pretty lame.
So what would be the point if some local talent shows u0.
Maybe Carlos, tower of power....
Wonder if you can get a refund for false advertisement.

Unless Journey records a new album, which I'm sure that they won't, I was looking more forward to Neal having Journey Beyond or whatever he would call it. There's not much reason for Journey to continue on beyond this tour unless they will record a new album.

This is something that maybe only Andrew remembers... When John Farnham did a tour titled "The Last Time". He implied it was his final tour. A fan sued him for false advertising and sales baiting. He lost in court because other artists go on multiple "final" tours and he could prove no consumer loss.

Of course, this is Australia and Australia courts. Farnham went on to do about a half dozen other tours.

IMO, fans can try suing Journey but I doubt it would go anywhere.

In my little mini-review of the October show I saw, I said:

For all the negative stuff discussed in this forum, it appeared to me this band could easily go another several years if they wanted.

They packed the arena. The crowd was super into it. More than I've seen in any of the other post-Perry shows.

Money. Money is your answer.

I'm not suggesting that they aren't still worth seeing. But just that most of us have seen them a billion times by now, and with no new music, it isn't worth the huge ticket prices. IMO, Schon's Journey Beyond would be more exciting at this stage. But yes, you are definitely correct on their motivation.

If they truly take a year off, I hope they create something. I remember at one point that Journey Through Time was supposed to release new music. What happened to any of that? Cain says he has "secular" songs sitting around. He previously said he wrote a new Journey single "This Town" in 2024 and was waiting for the band to accept it. There is stuff there - even if it's just an EP.

Why don't they go out on a high note? The arenas may be full, but a large number are there to see the "last Journey Show" in that location. A "We really mean it this time, Final Farwell Tour" will not draw like this one did. I know several fans personally that spent the big bucks to for VIP tickets because it WAS going to be the last tour. They won't do that again.

I drastically upgraded for this tour over what I had been spending, for that exact reason, the final tour. I won't be doing that again.

They don’t have to create new music because it’s not going to move the needle commercially. They record new music and maybe 50 people in the audience know the song while 7000 stare at them with blank faces waiting for Lovin Touchin Squeezin

I had already decided that this would be my final Journey tour, even if they go on. I figured it was a better than 50% chance this would not actually be a farewell. It would have to take a pretty positive change for me to see them again.

I don't know that any of us, and I know that I'm not saying it for that reason, are saying that they need to record a new album to make money. I, and likely others, are saying that they need to to make it worth it for the fans. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, bring on Journey Beyond instead.
