My wish would be to have a compilation of their best performances of the the Augeri era of new and rare material on DVD in DTS.....

IMO, if were going to be released, it would have been done a long time ago.

Is there any official word on it? Like it has been scrapped? Or it is in the works?
Anyway, what was I saying.........

Several points to consider....

1) All non Augeri-era songs that were recorded at Warfield would require Steven P. 's permission to be released on a dvd. Perhaps he is playing hardball? Neal has stated that he has contacted Perry occasionally about releasing old concert footage with little to no avail. This is not an attack against the former lead singer, it's just the way the Journey machine apparently operates these days (based upon Herbie's very revealing interview amongst other sporadic comments from Neal & Jon). For all we know, anything with the 'Journey' name on it require Perry's permission & approval before it's release (though i highly doubt that. If such were true, the grungy low rent Red 13 would never have made it onto store shelves).

Again, for the record, the above paragraph was not in any way meant as a perry bash, and should not be construed as such. Please, for your sake and Andrew's, lay down your arsenal of X-rated verbal weaponry)

2) Do keep in mind, Sammy Hagar played a Led Zepplin cover. In order to release that on DVD, the band would need to secure the rights to do so. They'd have to contact the Zepplin estate (if there is such a thing) and pay them royalties or something to that effect. Money, of which I highly doubt the band (in it's curent formation) would be inclined to freely part with. Initially, Hagar was to play some "Planet US" tunes at the show. But then Anthony cancelled on them. Those "Planet US" tunes could've have easily been released on the dvd (as Neal was involved in the writing), but any Zepplin (or any non-Journey song for that matter, including Black magic woman or Hendrix' Voodoo Chile) song on dvd would need official permission from the Zepplin people or the appropriate contacts, I'd imagine.

3) While I belive Herbie's company, Nocture did film the concert, the amount of cameras that were there where in no way equivalent to the ambudance of cameras that were used to cover the Vegas show for dvd. Who knows if the Warfield footage was any good. I can hardly imagine a concert being filmed by three or so cameras to be very polished or viewer friendly.

There has been no official comment on it for over a year.

I am very disappointed at the thought of this dvd idea being scrapped. It was an awesome show from what I have heard. Would have been great, and would have sold IMO.

I don't think we will ever see a DVD of the Warfield show--a CD maybe, but not a DVD. I was surprised when they started talking about a DVD as a possibility. It just didn't seem like there were enough cameras or anything else at that show to actually produce enough quality video for a DVD.

It looks like this DVD is just another in a long string of delivery failures. I don't understand why so many of these have happened in the last three years. Why do they say they'll do these things when they don't seem to be able to deliver? Not very good PR is it?

Barb, you've had the opportunity to meet with the band members on several occassions....Did you ever ask them about this? To be honest, I personally don't care if it's NOT an elaborate video production anyway, as long as it's a quality digital soundboard recording! This DVD was originally intended for sale ONLY on journeymusic.com for the die hard FANS anyway, if I remember correctly. This is certainly one of THE best shows I've witnessed with this lineup, and I, as well as everyone else that attended that show (or any diehard Journey fan, for that matter), would be ecstatic to have this little piece of concert history in their living rooms! There may be better shows in the future, but for now, April 26, 2003 at the Warfield in San Francisco stands out in my mind! It's a MUST HAVE!

We did run into Neal in the casino after the Temecula show, but I was too busy asking him about Soul SirkUS and his solo stuff to think about the Warfield DVD.

Just in my opinion, I think it's some kind of a quality issue. I mean, if you think back, they seem to have a habit of changing things a few times before they release them. Arrival was ready for release and then they went back in and recorded some stuff. Red 13 was ready but then they remixed it or changed something or other and it was delayed. The 2001 DVD was delayed for some reason or other. I remember reading Neal did not like the quality of Greatest Hits Live and he said that he had nothing to do with it so I'm guessing that's how it got released quickly. The latest classic DVD seems to have sub-standard audio if you ask me and that was a Perry/Kalodner deal. I think the Journey boys are just picky about the quality of things and that delays everything.

Hi All
I would like to see this DVD released but I too don't think it will ever happen. From all accounts this was one of the best Journey concerts ever. I have a few friends that were there.Steve Perry must ok it and that's not going to happen until some of the projects that he's working on for Sony are completed. The Journey greatest hits DVD is out and he's working on something else Journey related. Maybe then we'll get to see it.

A big thank you to Andrew for re-opening the Journey board. :D

I think at this point in time it's probably too expensive to produce something that really and truly is only going to appeal to a very small portion of their fanbase. I hope they chuck the whole idea, just forget about it an move on to something new. It's been nearly a year and a half now.

It appears they did forget about it! And DID move onto something else. Sad they put this word out to fans and then did not fulfill. If they were unsure in the first place, then keep the mouths SHUT! Don't build the people up to let them down....geez! If they WERE feeling sure and something along the way happened, well TELL EVERYONE THE TRUTH and get on with life.

Well Barb, it WAS all your fault that the discussion started at all... ;) The announcement was made prematurely in the wake of the JPP video of the induction ceremony (sorry folks, no copies remain, we promised the band only attendees would get it)

It's unfortunate that we've gone this long without a record of that memorable show. I'd be more surprised to actually see it than not at this point....
