I'd like to widen the question...

Why all the hatred - PERIOD!

Why the continuous arguing when neither side will ever agree. Why are there even two sides at all??

Good luck getting a answer to that!

There is an answer....

Those of us who are fans of Journey have grown tired of people who are only fans of Steve Perry who bash Journey's decision to continue. Rather than ignore something they claim they have no interest in, they obsess unhealthy about what Steve Perry did 3 decades ago and attempt to tear down the active Journey many of us are enjoying. In the battling, Steve Perry gets negatively spoken of unfortunately, which is unfair to him as he used to be a great rocker and deserves to live his life as he chooses...

It is really that simple.

I don't know. May be you have found the answer. May be you have not found the answer. But what ever is the answer; this constant bickering is just a shame. He has been treated unfairly. And so have the other members of the band; we don't know the answers and instead the fans
just keep the fires burning with the insults back and forth justifying their opinion with dates from long ago, times too distant to remember and events which are just a snap shot of that time. Life as we know it; is much more than just that.

:? I don't HATE Steve Perry, but as an artist (who I used to idolize), he's a major disappointment, as far as I'm concerned. I certainly respect what he's done, but I've MOVED ON because Steve Perry gives us (the fans) absolutely nothing to look FORWARD to anymore, entertainment wise.

Journey has issues, Andrew, and to diss the man who brought it it's success is the wrong road to go down., imo. He's our hero and we have few of those these days.

There is an example! You don't even realize what you have or have been given. It's a gift that keeps on giving. Journey's running on the fumes from it. .........."Used to idolize indeed'"........... :(

I don't hate Steve Perry OR any of the band members of Journey!

There will be fans that continue to support the Journey with Steve Perry, and there will be fans that support the Journey with Steve Augeri, OR fans who support both. Either way is perfectly fine. :) 8)

It is the bashing & tearing down of ANY member of Journey that brings out the passion in the fans on EITHER SIDE to defend whomever they support.

Distant Voice! Come back to answer the original question in another thread? You hightailed it out of here so fast, and now you are back? Some want to know if you ARE Perry!

If you are referrring to me as bashing your beloved Perry, I am stating facts that are on the net, which Perry's fans, choose not to face.

That's it in a nutshell.

Tell you what! Start a new Journey thread that we can all discuss.

He's our hero and we have few of those these days.

 Hero??? Maybe you just don't know where to look.

What superior qualities and what deeds?
Dates, times, places, please.

The above is the root of the problem.

Some Perry fans can't stand their man being critiqed or even ignored. The FACT is that the band has moved on without him. The FACT is that many people are fans of JOURNEY and can continue being a fan without Perry in the band. The FACT is that Perry himself allowed himself to be removed from the band. The FACT is that the band has carried on without him and will continue to do so for the forseeable future.

The truth is they have an agenda to try to ensure that Perry is not 'ignored' or 'dissed' or critiqued on Journey forums such as this one. So, they go about tramping on Journey in an attempt to prop up Perry. But, they do not like Perry being tramped on in the process.

The result is that their insisting that they have the 'right' to post all kinds of negative things about Journey has a flip side of people posting all kinds of negative things about Perry.

Who wins? nobody. But, I can live with that.

An agenda?...What agenda?

Wasn't the question why are some on this board seem to enjoy bashing Steve Perry and what has he personally done to them? Why are these people so bitter?

To submit my response to this question, I feel that some are just a tad jealous because no matter what the current line up is doing, Steve Perry always seems to outshine them...

JMHO Distant Voice, but I think they feel like they can make people appreciate Augeri if they make them think Steve Perry is the bad guy. They don't give us credit for knowing what we like and don't like.

And, Andrew replied wanting to explain why these forums go around and around the same 8yr OLD topics that will never be resolved.

The answer is because Perry fans have an agenda to keep propping up Perry by making Journey out to be evil. The response is that people argue the points that Perry is evil. Who wins? Nobody.

It's the same thing that happened here before. It's the same thing that happened at VH1. It's the same thing that happened on the 'old' Backtalk. It's the same thing that still happens once in a while at the 'new' Backtalk. It's the same thing that happens sometimes on the mailing list. It happens on the newsgroup.

It is what Perry fans have been doing for eight years - ignore EVERYTHING that Perry did to deserve to be FIRED, and just whine that he QUIT and allowed Journey to continue on.

Wow, amazing, Perry allowed Journey to continue on without him, and they did...and still are. THAT is where the argument still begins with you people.

He doesn't have to do anything. People chanting 'Bring back Perry' and 'F*** this new shit' at Journey shows, tells the story. I heard it with my own ears, and it wasn't just a few people either.

I like new Journey, i have said it before. I have flown over 3000 miles to see them (twice), and was shocked when i heard the above chants, but it really is what so many people want.

I still say that if Perry were to reunite with the band it would be Big.
They would no longer be playing County fairs and Casino's, they would be playing Arena's again, and if they done another cd it would sell very well indeed.

Just my two cents, and my personal opinion of course.

I don't think playing fairs gives Journey a good image, but many bands play casinos - it seems to be the new thing. I mean, a new high-end Casino facility is nothing to shy away from, but some of those fair venues, like the NYS one, should be condemned...

They do also still play arenas and amphitheatres.

Perry would bring some more people to shows and sell more CD's, but nothing like you Perry fans think. The market is different - and frankly, the brand equity of Journey as a touring band is the main reason why people buy their concert tix.

You people that think Perry is still as popular as in the 80's, are as bad as the people who think Journey is still as popular as they were in the 80's. You need to peek your head up from the sand.....
