Recording The Show

I am in discussion about the possibilities of recording (audio) this show and indeed, even filming it for DVD release at some stage.

A long way to go before anything is concrete, but discussion at least taking place.

Going to be an interesting night!

Stil in question. No is the general rule. Stay tuned...

I will have a pro photographer there to offer concert shots for sale after the event. Working on these things now.

Alternately, the bands could just let someone tape the show from the audience and distribute the music amongst other fans for free the way a lot of artists do. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be pretty sweet.

I'd LOVE a DVD release, but I'd want complete sets, and not just like, a couple of songs from each band. I hate those kind of releases...but I'd love to have the JSS and Harem sets for posterity, in some form. :)

Cameras should be up to the artists...I don't think any of them will be Axl-ish about cameras, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to ask them.

I think so long as there isn't any flashes used (especially right in the faces of the musicians) it shouldn't be a big deal.

There's venues that are really anal about it for unknown reasons (like the fucking house of blues), but I haven't really ever talked to any musicians who care about cameras...they're just pictures for people's personal collections, so there's usually no harm.

As long as there are a bunch of audience shots (I'll be the guy in the Cowboys jersey in row 8 ) I'll be fine with whatever comes out.

The HOB is TERRIBLE! :x No way would you get a camera in unless you stick it in your crotch  which if my memory serves me correctly, someone did for the Journey show in February. The Verizon Wireless Amp in Charlotte were assholes about it too for the DL/Journey show last July. :x

I thin Gary Shutt would be involved in the DVD-editing/authoring unless he is gonna be too busy on stage ;)

He better be busy on stage  He could however edit it after the fact, after SOMEONE ELSE does the video work.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't filmed in any way (unless there was an audience cam somewhere), but hopefully someone was smart enough to hook a recording device up to the soundboard so at least there will be that.

I doubt any straight soundboard recording would be release-worthy from a sound quality standpoint, but it would be nice if that recording, or at least parts of it, could be posted online or otherwise distributed in some way to the fans that were there. I don't know how the artists feel about free sharing amongst fans of recordings that aren't for sale to begin with, but it would be a pretty cool gesture by the performers to allow something like that to circulate as a souvenir to anyone who attended.

I'm just putting that up as a suggestion since I have no idea if any quality or multi-track recordings were made (with all the trouble Andrew went through to put it on in the first place, I doubt that was at the top of his priority list)...assuming there is just a two-track unmixed soundboard feed at best, allowing Andrew to share the recordings for free amongst us diehards eliminates the dilemma of the artists charging money for product that may not be up to their usual standards (sound-wise, obviously the performances were all great).

I'm pretty sure this is a pipe dream, but you never know...I've heard JSS is generally comfortable with fans trading JSSB and Talisman live recordings/videos amongst themselves, although I could be wrong about that.

If I see any recordings surface on the live torrent sites, I'll definitely let you guys know. I'm still hopeful something will surface.

I was in the 1st balcony, someone in the box seats got every bit of it on tape/DVD. They had theirs set up on a tripod.

Thought about bringing my equipment, but I didn't want to lug it around. Having a good time was more important. Hopefully the person who took the time and effort will share......
