We’re Still Here

Postby ADALBL » Fri Sep 21, 2018 2:43 pm

This is my favorite of the first three singles. I liked all three a lot but this one is both beautiful and haunting in a very emotionally moving way. And the vocal here is incredible. The Voice is still here. And again the lyrics could have multiple meanings which is very cool. I feel like that kid hearing Escape for the first time again except I appreciate this even more. Traces has the makings of a masterpiece!

I knew I loved it right from the snippet. That's a sign of a really good song.

This one is definitely a winner. My favorite by far. Easily should have been the second single.

These songs are special to me.
I respectfully ask that you please listen to them,
And whatever they make you feel,
I thank you for listening.

And then he hopes that the huge impact Sam Cooke had on him, he is able to pass onto us in just some small way?

Sir, you are amaze balls.

There are so many heartwarming stories of how this comeback has lifted people's spirits, their hopes, their joy.

That ..... Sir ..... is how you make us all feel.

I can hear the full gospel choir backing him when he performs this at the Grammy's ... which he is going to bag for sure!

Thanks Steve for taking us back to an innocent time, while living in reality. Ok, this one made me tear up. Love this tune.

Love this one. Reminds me of FTLOSM. Nice balance of darkness/light, sadness/hope.

damn thats a good song, from the snippet thought it was gonna be a very mellow, moody ballad.
Glad I was wrong. Like TNC said emotions all over the place and that guitar solo probably one of the best I have heard in a Perry solo song. Perry's best vocals so far, and all those layered harmonies.

Perry's gonna need a choir behind him if he tries to do these songs live! :D

Rarely do I like a song on 1st listen. This was one of those rare times. I love it! I'm so looking forward to hearing the full album. What a joy to hear that voice again! Welcome back Steve! October 5th can't get here quick enough.

Same here. Kept thinking that liking two out of three isn’t bad....then i heard the complete song. Fantastic return to music and am hoping he takes it to another level on Sun Shines Gray. And oh yeah, he can still hit the high notes. :D

It's beautiful..moving & hope-filled. Yes, I can imagine a gospel choir taking this song up. It feels like a balm to the spirit (to mine it does, just completed being a juror on a tragic case).

Got the download this AM.
Wow, how tastes are different. So far, I'm least enamored with this one. That being said, the chorus has a good hook and the lead guitar is better here than on the other tunes. For me, the 2nd release is the best of these first 3.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

In my opinion, if this song doesn't reach the Adult contemporary charts something is really wrong.

Best of the 3 by a wide margin.
I don't even listen to FTLOSM anymore. This song sounds fresh and modern ... better than any song on that album.

This one grabbed me immediately. This song is perfect in every way. It should have been the lead single, IMHO, but just glad it's on the album. His voice is awesome, and the guitar solo is just incredible.

I agree, this is a fantastic slow song . I'm still trying to figure out how they got the brother from "My Name Is Earl" to play bass in all the videos.

Thus far, Steve Perry has released three singles with an Album drop( which I ordered, signed) in October.
Thus far, the most recent release is the best.
'' We're Still Here".
I got the chance to listen to it through earphones and to me, his vocal ability is way above what one would think.
He has more "rasp" in his voice, but he's able to control it.
He sounds very much like his "Street Talk" (Oh Sherri) vocal days.
Having said that these songs are NOT "Journey sounding" at all.
They reflect a matured person who has experienced Loss and has invited you into his life to hear what he has learned.
They are "layered" very well, and he fools you with what you're expecting and what you hear.
All three songs have multiple meanings and a sense of HONESTY that's missing in todays artificial "music".
So far, this Album is Grammy worthy.
You should listen to this through earphones/buds
It's the best new music I have heard since the 1980's
And Yes, "We're Still Here".

This is my favourite so far.

Sounds like a younger Perry voice.

We know he started recording in 2015, it would be interesting to know when the vocal tracks for these
Songs were cut. He sounds stronger and less raspy on this track, close to T.B.F. Era

My favorite so far, too. I agree with you that his voice sounds much clearer and less raspy on this one, leading me to believe it was recorded later than the first two.
