Actually, Roger was #3 after Sean and George. #4 if you include TV Bond Barry Nelson. Either way, Roger Moore made the role his own. Everybody else, including the overrated Daniel Craig, are riffing on the Connery template. Roger reinterpreted to fit his own blithe style. Truly a legend.

For me, the best Bond was a 3 way tie between Connery, Moore and Brosnan.
Next would be Dalton, then Lazenby.
Craig sucks ass!

Sad to see Roger pass away. He was not only a great actor, but he also seemed like a good guy!

Yeah, like you mentioned, Barry Nelson was the first to portray Bond in a live TV broadcast of "Casino Royale."
Roger Moore was actually offered the Bond role for "Dr. No," but he had to turn it down because of his contract for "The Saint" TV show. So Connery got the role.

Connery left after filming "You Only Live Twice" which was the fifth Bond film.

Lazenby was then hired for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."

Lazenby then left, and Connery was brought back for "Diamonds Are Forever" and then left after that.

Then Moore got the role and made 7 Bond films.

Then Dalton did 2 Bond films.

Then Brosnan did 4 Bond films.

Then the ever-so-sucky Daniel Craig got to destroy the franchise with 4 films.

I'm pretty sure that you knew all of that, TNC. I just thought that I'd list it for anyone else who wasn't aware of the order of the different Bond actors.

Correct! Regarding Craig...I don't begrudge him the role of a lifetime. I just don't think Cubby would have ever picked him in a million years. His relationship with Barbara Broccoli is downright creepy and EON has ceded more creative control to Craig than any other actor. I've enjoyed his performances but I think he's visually miscast. The personal angle stuff is getting old. Seems every film Craig is weeping and moping and crying about someone. Skyfall, in particular, is a total pos.
