Now that's a figure I'd like to see, something authentic, none of this home made graph and chart bullshit ok.

So with your analogy (the economy being worse now ) ,at least we know why some people are on Government help. How pathetic was Romney's dad back then to get government help back when times were great , economy was awesome and unemployment was low ;)

GALLUP: OBAMA APPROVE SLUMPS TO 46%...

Fox News released a new poll Thursday showing that President Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney in three battleground states, topping off a week of bad-news polling for the Republican presidential nominee in toss-up states.

The poll, which covered Ohio, Virginia and Florida, shows Obama leading the former governor by seven points in both Ohio (49 to 42 percent) and Virginia (50 to 43 percent). In Florida, Obama leads by five points (49 to 44 percent), which is within the poll's margin of error. Obama won all three states in 2008, marking the first time Virginia voted for a Democratic president since 1964.

That's kind of like saying Fox News is the # 1 news network vs. MSNBC - that's because its on basic cable (same thing with Rush Limbaugh)

As much as I enjoy the headlines on Drudge - he is EXTREME politically slanted...but has a good sense of humor and really, no one else is doing what he does for the short attention span which dominates our culture

Slucero, I was thinking of you today when our teacher had us read a NYTimes column by Nicholas Kristof about the 47% gaffe; Kristof noted that Romney's remarks could very well include gov't employees and soldiers.

Actually that’s a very good question. It really depends on what year and location. Geisha are primarily found in such places as Kyoto, not as much in Tokyo. So there would be more in Kyoto and not so much in Tokyo. Today there isn’t as many as there were for example 50 years ago. 50 years ago Geisha ranged in age from early 20’s all the way up to 70’s, 80’s and some 90s, with the average age of a Geisha between 40 and 45 years of age. Factor in longevity in Japan. Obviously there was a very long span in years that a Giesha is active in the profession along with longevity and since the emperor of Japan didn’t try to gain popularity in votes by ending the profession and forcing them into retirement or finding another profession, unlike how Obama is doing with the coal mining in America, there were plenty of active Geisha for many years to come before being decommissioned into retirement.

I’d like to see how many criminals who are incarcerated in the US prison system would vote democrat or republican. Those are the results I’d like to see. But it will never happen because releasing those numbers would piss off the dems just as much as Romney’s statement did.

Actually it will never happen because the number would be statistically insignificant.

If we only read the study.. Its also clear that the study only examines those exempted.... and since Federal employees pay income taxes, the logical conclusion then is that Romney's remarks could not include them... and that Kristof is taking Romneys' comments out of context... and making a backhanded insult.

Hopefully your teacher came to that same conclusion...

No, she's a diehard Democrat, but I did raise a similar point to her during the discussion on your behalf.

Well, totally unrelated. But, you're wrong. You will be happy because that's what you are. Nobody "MADE" you that way.

I'll put it to you another way. If it were possible to "make" people happy, Romney wouldn't whine about the 47%, he would just "make" them happy with his philosophy and campaign..instead of writing them off as undesirables.

Comment from Australia's government Treasurer and part 2IC:

Mr Swan this morning told a Sydney Financial Services Council event that the biggest dangers to the global and Australian economies were declines in Europe and America, the world's largest economy.

"Let's be blunt and acknowledge the biggest threat to the world's biggest economy are the cranks and crazies that have taken over the Republican Party," said Mr Swan.

Pointing to a stalemate over the US Budget earlier this year Mr Swan said, "Despite President Obama's goodwill and strong efforts, the national interest was held hostage by the rise of the extreme right Tea Party wing of the Republican Party.

"The consequences were grave.

"There can be few things more alarming in public policy than a political movement which was genuinely prepared to see the US government default on its obligations in order to score a political point ... fast forward to today, against the backdrop of a very close presidential campaign, and global investors are once again keenly focused on political gridlock in the US."

Mr Swan today stood by his comments and said an example of "inflammatory" would be the United States in default.

"That would have very serious implications for the global economy. It's the last thing the global economy needs" the Treasurer told reporters.

Anybody who thinks that, regardless of party... that the POTUS, Congress or the US government has ever had any control of the US economy is smoking high grade New York crack.

Fact Finder wrote:So Obama falls flat on his face in the Univision Townhall thing yesterday and now we get this...

Wednesday afternoon, the Commission on Presidential Debates quietly posted a press release announcing the topics for the first presidential debate in Denver on October 3. What the commission didn't say is that this may be the first time in history presidential candidates have been given the topics of a debate ahead of time.

"We had been thinking about this for awhile," says CPD executive director Janet Brown. "CPD's intention is to have the candidates come prepared for a more in-depth conversation."

But some say the release of topics sets a bad precedent.

Though specific questions were not given, debate moderator Jim Lehrer of PBS NewsHour announced the topics of the questions on the commission Web site, saying that three questions will be on the economy, one on health care, one on the role of government and one on governing.

He can't use a teleprompter in the debates so they decide a heads up on the topics at hand will save him. What bullshit CPD.
