I'm actually looking forward to the debate tomorrow. There is sure to be a lot of dung flung. The question is who is gonna end up with the biggest load of shit and will the opinions held by the American voters of both men change? Get ready to rumble!

I think Romney will narrow the gap somewhat tomorrow. It's pretty typical that the "outsider" gets a bump after the first debate.

They're both smart guys. Mitt will need to hold his tongue, and Obama will need to do whatever he can to distract attention away from that "spending issue".

Wow. Really? That's it? No wonder Romney himself distanced himself from this group weeks ago. This speech, and its contents, have been covered and rehashed innumerable times in the past five years.

DESPERATION. Sad, really.

What The GOP Doesn't Want You To Know About The Deficit
The deficit has ballooned not because of specific spending measures, but because of the recession. The deficit more than doubled between 2008 and 2009, as the economy was in free fall, since laid-off workers paid less in taxes and needed more benefits. The deficit then shrank in 2010 and 2011.

The Stimulus Cost Much Less Than Bush's Wars, Tax Cuts
Republicans frequently have blamed the $787 billion stimulus for the national debt, but, when all government spending is taken into account, the stimulus frankly wasn't that big. In contrast, the U.S. will have spent nearly $4 trillion on wars in the Middle East by the time those conflicts end, according to a recent report by Brown University. The Bush tax cuts have cost nearly $1.3 trillion over 10 years. The

The Deficit Grew Under George W. Bush
When George W. Bush took office, the federal government was running a surplus of $86 billion. When he left, that had turned into a $642 billion deficit.

The Deficit Is Shrinking
Last year's federal budget deficit was 12 percent lower than in 2009, according to the Office of Management and Budget. The deficit is projected to shrink even more over the next several years.

Investors Are Paying Us To Borrow Money
The interest rate on 10-year Treasury bonds is negative, according to the Treasury Department. Investors are even paying us for 30-year Treasury bonds, when adjusted for inflation.

Investors Are Not Running Away
Conservative commentators have been warning for years that investors will run away from Treasury bonds because of the national debt. So far it's not happening. Interest rates on Treasury bonds continue to hover at historic lows.

That post is so wrong it's incredible. I'm too tired tonight, but suffice to say, those are math tricks. If you balloon the deficit by 100% and then bring it down slightly, they want to say that's a deficit reduction. Total crap.

And yes, wars are expensive. Hard to call them Bush's war(s) when only one would qualify as his and the other was universally agreed on and is still going, though in a far worse manner. Time to get out.

Fact is fact. Washington has a spending problem. Period.

One trip the my grocery store confirms this. People, who speak no English, buying more stuff than I can afford, paying with an EBT card, then getting into a nicer vehicle than I can afford, confirms this. Yeah, ok, one of my rants, but there's more, much more. Ummmm, but, let's not get off track. Washington has a spending problem. We're feeding people who really don't need the handout and pissing off people who work hard and don't ask for, nor require some of the benefits that others feel entitled to, just because they occupy our country, legally, or illegally. If I go to the doctor, I pay. Others go to the doctor and don't have to pay. They just raise my bill. These are some of the reasons why I can't vote for Obama or another one like him.

Thinking we'll got something "different" with Romney, a moderate progressive, when the team that WROTE the Massachusetts Healthcare bill IS THE SAME TEAM THAT WROTE ObamaCare... is pretty self explanatory

Sorry, but we don't get to vote on this. We're gonna decide which president is gonna get this country up off it's fat ass and start producing something worthwhile. Healthcare, for now, just ain't gonna be one of those things. Choose your lesser evil! You have 2 choices. Choose wisely. What appears to be behind door #1 (in the polls) isn't it! Want another 4 years of of ghetto bound decline for the average person? Vote for Obama. Want a chance at something better? Vote for Romney. I'm taking door #2 for Romney.

Actually you do get to vote on this... its just that a vote for Obama or Romney equals "more of the same"....

People (voters) in this country are so stupidly myopic that they'll lemming-like vote for a Dem or a Rep... even though both candidates have more in common than they do differences...

This is what America has become... a country were we don't vote for the "best"... just the "least worst"...

yep, of course you are suggesting that NONE of that existed prior to Obama and if Romney would get in office , they will eliminate the welfare program and burn all the freeloaders all together and we wont have to worry about them. Now that you've tried FantasyLand, what option would you like to choose next ?

Media has become even more fragmented since 2008. I think the debates, alot like the conventions, are becoming increasingly irrelevant. There is nothing Romney can possibly say to turn this around. If he brings up Libya, he gets flack for exploiting a tragedy, which will only lead to Obama touting his track record on defeating terrorism ("During my administration we cornered and killed Osama Bin Laden and top al-Qaeda operatives etc etc.") If he suggests tax reform and Obama presses him for details, he will really be revealed as the naked would-be emperor that he truly is. Obama had a great line during his convention: "Have a surplus? Take a tax cut. Deficit too high? Try another. Feel a cold coming on? Take two cuts, roll back some regulations and call me in the morning." As long as he continues this glib line of attack, Romney will be feckless. Yes, things have definitely not improved significantly under Obama, and Romney would be wise to hammer that point ALOT. But he has no counter-point. Nobody believes that more voodoo economics is the answer. Bush tax cuts are still currently in place which were supposed to create jobs and help fuel private sector growth. Forget about giving Romney's policies a chance, his policies are already in-tact and are being tested. The tax-cutting social experiment has failed. Don't tell me about Reagan - different time period, different issue (stagflation), and different interest rates. Personally, I think this election was thrown when Clint Eastwood came out and rambled senilely to a chair. To independents and undecided, it displayed a lack of judgement, lack of respect for the office, and that overall, the Romney campaign can't run a two car parade. It was red meat for the Limbaugh/AM radio fans fans tho, which is pretty much the GOP's only reliable constituency.

True, could say that this was always true....consider what Ralph Waldo Emerson said in 1845....:

The objection to conforming to usages that have become dead to you is, that it scatters your force. It loses your time and blurs the impression of your character. If you maintain a dead church, contribute to a dead Bible-society, vote with a great party either for the government or against it, spread your table like base housekeepers, under all these screens I have difficulty to detect the precise man you are.
