I knew a lady rewarded herself when she quit smoking by buying things she wouldn't have been able to afford if she hadn't quit. It was very effective. Hope it can help out here, too! ;)

That's a nice thought hope it helps. It's sad when it costs more to smoke now than to drink. :?

The patch gave me a rash and the gum was gag-worthy. Gradually stepping down has been the only thing to work for me, i.e. down to light cigs, then to ultra lights cigs. I just made a sort of lateral move from Marlboro Lights to Camel Lights. Yeah, I know. . .sort of pointless. I have two addictions: my smokes and my books. I don't just read a lot of books, either. I *devour* them. All things considered, those aren't the worst vices to have.

Here's someone else sending positive "no smoking" vibes your way, Liam!

Going from Marlboro to Camel might have been a bad idea. It was worse for ME anyway. Camels are a wee bit stronger. The lights are equal to Marlboro Mediums. Just food for thought. :-)

My other "Hobby" is drinking. Which I'm doing now. I don't like the word "addiction".

Well that's good Liam.....Hubby tells me it gets easier and he never seemed like he had cravings
or withdrawls.
He quit 5 yrs ago and hasn't picked up one since, while I smoke hugely around him and our kids.
Yes, I am the worlds worst Mother.
Though I can't quit with ya, I support ya Sir.

Thanks for the support. I'm going through withdraws though...only so much beer can replace the sweet, wonderful, taste of nicotine.

this worked for me,, from '88 - '92 or so , i smoked,, not much , maybe 2 or 3 packs a week,, but i LOVED IT,,, sometimes, if i went out i would smoke an entire pack in one night , with maybe a bum (friend) or 2 getting one from me anyway,, so i decided to buy some Benson and Hedges ultra light 100 menthols,, it was great , no more bumming for sure,, after a month or so i threw a new pack in the trash ..that was it... easy.. UGH!

Thanks... I was going to be supportive until I read that... and now I want one too.

I've not started quitting yet. I'm still in the denial "I'll quit when I damn well please" phase. Of course when you live up the road from RJ Reynolds and Philip Morris is the biggest company in your state... yeah, excuses I know.

Good luck, its just nastiness wrapped in paper.
