I shudder and puke at the thought of a Tampa - San Jose final.

That match up would be about as exciting as watching two 350 pound women mud wreslel naked whilst drinking a six pack of Old Milwaukee beer. Im sure someone would pay to see it , but you have to be a pretty pathetic :D

There's nothing pathetic about it. Anyone who don't like it best just go screw. When I lived away from Chicago, I followed my "home" team (Phoenix) and rooted for them, went to games and local player events, the whole nine.

I don't follow them much since because it's just hard to see games when you're not in the local market, but I still had my Coyotes decal in my window before I got rid of the car, and I have my jersey and everything. (and I would have kept the decal, too! but when I peeled it off, all I got was a clear window cling - the image was pretty much baked into the window  ) There's nothing wrong with being a fan of your "transplant" city team. Hell it was hard enough to be a Hawks fan IN Chicago before they started actually showing the games... so when I moved to a place where - *gasp* they show the games on TV! - it was easy to get hooked in.

Yeah, that's kind of how it's been. I've enjoyed it as a great way to see the Pens play. This was my first year of getting to a game and I loved it. One game I watched the Pens lose, the other I watched them win. Both games equally exciting for me. Their fans are passionate, yet not nasty, which makes it nice for me. And I really like to see the Bolts doing so well. First of all, nothing more boring than a hockey game where one team completely kills the other. It's great seeing two good teams go at it. And I don't want TB to go under, or how will I ever get to see any NHL games or my Pens play? Those are just the selfish reasons. There is also this part of me that wants to root for the hometown team, even though my heart is with my "first hometown" team the Pens. (well, Erie is my hometown, but you have the Sabres and the Pens...... the Pens it was! I stick to the western PA teams in sports. )

Once my team is eliminated, I'm out.....I don't root, or watch anymore hockey. The ONLY exception is the SB. And i only watch that for the commercials, and to see how involved the officials are.... :P :P

You better pray Philly makes a second 4-game comeback....cause you DO NOT want to face Tim Thomas..... :P

Call me a bitch and erase it? Nice :P I am just tired of being slammed when all I am is excited about a team. You'd think you would have gotten that in my first post I had here today. As I said, I'll express my excitement and lame way of rooting for teams elsewhere.

Hey I was only joking :D :D . I'm a flyers fan- just in a bad mood because the flyers have goalies that couldn't succeed in a grade school game on a frozen pond and are completely useless!

That's what I used to do! And I must say, it was a lot more affordable to go to a Coyotes game than here in Chicago with the Hawks, so any chance I could when the Hawks came out there, I got tix. Same thing, just with my home guys in a different color jersey. :P But I still adopted Phoenix as my alternate "home" team even though Chicago and the Hawks will always be my *home* no matter where I am. It's about the sport for me, since it's the only sport I'm way into.

The cost is a factor for me too! I've been told a Pens game with the furthest seats, run for at least $60 a ticket, if not more. For those same seats in TB, we can get them about $25 a ticket. I can take my whole family. And they all love a live game! Hockey is definitely more popular in the North. But I think it can still be viable here. Now that they are doing well, that is changing, of course. They're selling out and prices are high! At least for now in the playoffs. I would go to a finals game if they weren't so high. It would be fun to actually SHOW excitement for a home team, and actually hear the roar of the crowd and the sirens go off when they score! I'm usually too chicken to go to overboard in my cheering when the Pens are on their ice! The shirt is enough! Someday I need to see the Pens play in Pitt!

Nope, nothing wrong with that at all - but for me it's never gonna happen. Try as I might (well, OK - I don't try that hard  ), I will never be a Canucks fan. Once a Flames fan, always a Flames fan - right Deb? :)

Warm weather climate states have teams that consist of team members
from the north pole ...they have to play somewhere and they can't all
play for the Red Wings ...our own Shreveport~Bossier Mudbugs are
chock~full of Michiganders and Canadians ...and they are quite good!!
They won't be playing for the SC, obviously, but it's a good time and
the folks have learned to love the game!! Lynny, you just keep on
cheering ...what do you call one who has something against the
south?!?! Are they racist?!? :?

Right-o chicklet! Although I am routing for the Canucks, if it can't be the Flames. But I am like you with the Canucks when it comes to the Oilers. LOL, I'll route for anybody but.......Edmonton. Hahaha, I guess the Battle of Alberta was instilled in me at a young age. Whereas with my daughter, she routes for the Redwings after the Flames?! :?

Some things, the south does better than the north. Skilled sports such as bass fishing and NASCAR, for example. Most Canadians don't generally ride around on horses with sheets over their heads, either.

There should just be a separate NIT-style playoffs to ascertain who's #17 between San Jose, Nashville, Tampon Bay, Los Angeles, Florida, Carolina, Dallas, Anaheim, and Phoenx (soon-to-be Winnipeg and therefore exempt from this tournament). Also, the Canadian government should issue arrest warrants for any citizen who deigns to play for a warm-weather team.

I agree, go back to the original 6 and make it an even bigger money maker.
May as well because I just can't get my hockey heart around most of it anymore.

I've noticed that Niemi is exercising his inner Nabokov.

I don't like the Wings. But I chose them to advance in 7 games, so they better finish the job.
