I believe that every citizen in the country has to right to peacefully protest by kneeling during the national anthem. I believe our veterans fought and died protecting that right. The flag is a symbol that has a cherished meaning...but that very fact DRAWS protests and as long they are peaceful, they should be allowed.

I also believe it is in countries like Russia and North Korea where citizens are forced by leaders to act in respect towards symbols of the country. It is people like Putin, Kim Jong Un, Stalin, Hitler, Saddam, and Eric Cartman who would demand someone be punished for peacefully protesting. They say such things not out of respect for the flag or veterans but out of a demand that others respect their authority. That is how authoritarians and dictators speak, not people who respect the country and the office of President.

IMO, the proper response of the NFL to Donald Jong Trump's remarks would be for players, coaches, and team owners to all kneel during the national anthem. The Constitution guarantees their right to do this and Donald Jong Trump can not supercede this. The President does not have more authority than the Constitution.

Finally, IMO, veterans should not be offended. They in fact should be proud that they served a country that so values freedom and liberty that it guarantees the right to protest during displays of two of our most cherished symbols of our country, the flag and national anthem. A "communist" is simply somebody who believes in communism.

"Communism" can be viewed from many different perspectives, including political and economical. The way I choose to view communism is from their (a communist's) perspective it is a natural progression from failed capitalism. In capitalism a wealthy corporate class controls almost all of the wealth and power (political and economical) and a working class that has little to none of either. Eventually, the working class gets fed up and rebels against the corporate powers and instead of hording wealth and power share it among the people...therefore eliminating the corporate class where business is owned by a few people, economics are controlled by a few people, and politics are controlled by a few people. In a pure communist society, all of that wealth and power is shared equally among the people.

IMO, there is a constant struggle between capitalism and communism and ALL economies are a mixture of both...how far the economy leans towards capitalism or communism depends on the state of politics in the country. Neither a pure capitalist society nor a pure communist society exists - because people are corrupt.

Because people are corrupt, capitalism has to be controlled so its economic freedom is not abused. There may also be times where the government controls some industry rather than a corporation...interstate highway system, IRS, social security, are a few examples. Most communist societies are anarchies where political power is NOT shared. It is not shared because people are corrupt and desire that power and control and wealth that goes along with it. Also, since the people own industry, there is no incentive for innovation or competition. Falling behind can actually open up the economy for more capitalism - McDonalds in China, as a lame example.

Even by Trump's estimation, the hurricane "destroyed" the country. Do you really think infrastructure like a trucking industry in intact? Do you not understand that those people have homes that are destroyed and families to keep alive? Why have military vehicles not arrived to transport supplies? Why even use trucks when when military grade helicopters could move supplies much quicker It's obvious that it is a fucking chaos in Puerto Rico. In fact, what kind of dumb-fuck made the decision to deliver supplies without knowing how they would be picked up and by who?

No, the problem is unions, because, well, because they want it to be unions, I guess. This all appears to be based upon one video on YouTube that is on Univision and in Spanish. In the video a Teamsters official is apparently saying (in Spanish) something about how he has trucks to move the supplies but the port won’t release them. He also claims (in Spanish) that FEMA is hoarding diesel fuel and won’t release it to truckers. He also says that, despite all this, he did manage to get seven trucks loaded with fuel out of the port to get fuel to gas stations. This video was shared by a Spanish-speaking Trump supporter in Miami who then posted a snarky comment about how apparently the truckers were on strike until the red tape gets cleared up to their satisfaction. Despite the fact that the same FEMA red tape is preventing doctors from receiving medical supplies even if they show up at the port where the supplies are available for distribution.

From there, it spread around the right wing blogosphere despite the fact that none of the bloggers spreading this story, other than the original blogger, speak Spanish and none of them have the slightest idea what the person in the video is saying. They are apparently relying on a translation by that Miami Trump supporter (who appears to be one of the Cubanos, i.e., one of the right-wing anti-Communist Republicans). Said translation appears to be, from my reading of the Spanish, quite incomplete and takes things out of context in multiple places. Granted, I’m not a native Spanish speaker, I can read a little Spanish but I’m hopeless if you try to hold a conversation with me. But I can turn on the closed captioning on the videos and read the Spanish that’s coming out, and it does appear that the Miami Trump supporter is taking some statements out of context in order to paint a deceptive picture of what’s being said by the clearly angry Teamsters official.
