Interesting rankings Eric. I definitely think you have the Falcons and Jets ranked too high. In my opinion, Pittsburgh is the better team. I think Baltimore may be better than the Steelers, but I'm not sold on Flacco, so that disparity in talent might be offset with Ben.

Not sold on Flacco is an understatement for me. I've been maintaining for the better part of two years that the guy flat out stinks. Big arm, pea brain.

Interesting, with Moss out of New England, suddenly I like my Jets again. I seriously didn't think Tomlinson would be running the way he used to in San Diego. In addition, Sanchez still hasn't hit any type of Sophomore slump. No, he's not racking up the points, but he's not turning the ball over either. I thought turnovers would kill the Jets but I think they're favorites right now. The defense has been showing some chinks in the armor but I think the offense will start clicking just in time for a well-balanced contender.

That said, I have the Steelers up there as well. Look at what they accomplished without their starting QB? They're philosophy has always been defense. And for so long as Polamalu stays healthy, they're the cream of the crop.

The NFC, on the other hand, is a complete mess. The Packers have serious injury issues, the Cardinals are winning without a good QB of any kind, the Bushless Saints are struggling, the Vikings went all-chips-in with the Moss trade, but will Favre's arm hold up? If the Cowboys O-Line doesn't start protecting Romo, forget about a home Super Bowl game...So far, the only team that's impressed me has been the Falcons. They're 4-1 and not making the mistakes that are killing the trendy picks

...Just on a random guess, I'll say the Eagles are a close #2 at this moment. Kolb has shown he can be a good QB, and watch out when Vick comes back from injury. I'd say they're the best QB tandem in the league and they've got excellent weapons to throw to.

The Jets are and should be the favorite in the East. They're not the favorite in the AFC. Pittsburgh is better and so is Baltimore (who incidentally, has already beat the Jets).

Jonny B wrote:the Bushless Saints are struggling,

Please tell me that you're not seriously blaming the struggles of the Saints on a third down running back who seems to always pull an ass muscle?

Jonny B wrote: but will Favre's arm hold up?

Sure it will. It will hold up just long enough for the wrong color jersey to pick off another one of his passes. Don't believe the hype on Favre. There are many in the media who kiss this guys ass and many on this board who think he's god. I'm convinced that none of them have ever seen this guy play. He makes more mistakes than most rookie QB's and isn't close to an elite NFL QB. He's a fraud who can't keep his cock in his drawers and feels more compelled to participate in teenage "sexting" games than getting his old eyes checked to see if he's actually color blind (which I'm convinced he is). Anyone who tells you that Favre is a great NFL QB should forever have his or her credibility questioned when it comes to ALL things football!

The Cowgirls will NEVER will until they hire a real NFL coach. I posted that years ago on this board when they hired the jackass that they hired and that dope has proven me to be correct!

Rick may not agree w/me, but you were right ...and they need to do something about their
QB, as well ...which I've always said!!

I wouldn't shoot my wad over a 10-9 Ravens win over Jets...They kept a piss poor offensive team to 9 points. And the Jets kept another piss poor offensive team to 10 points...Minny kept that same Jets offense to FIVE FGs until that last INT...Balty is a poser, and the Jets will careen back to earth by week 10...

I like this Jets team as well only because they are one of the few teams in the league playing very physical football and that's what could carry a team throughout a 16 game schedule and esp in the playoffs, as that has been shown last year for this team. How they got there was a different story, but when they did get there, they rode their run game to the max.

This season is different with L.T actually running with passion as well as the plethora of weapons for a second year (and flawless) Sanchez with guys like Holmes, Keller, and Edwards. Sanchez is bound to have a 3 INT game and everyone knows his accuracy to his left side is non-existent but if that Rex Ryan defense can stick to their forumula, the Jets will be hard to beat.

They won't be flashy but they will have success. This Jets team reminds me of the Steelers '04 VS the Steelers of '05. The Steelers road Roethlisberger's rookie season to a 15-1 start to host the Title game. That next season, they won the Super Bowl. Last season, the Jets road a rookie Sanchez to the Title game, so could this be the year they crack the Super Bowl? We'll see.

That said, I have the Steelers up there as well. Look at what they accomplished without their starting QB? They're philosophy has always been defense. And for so long as Polamalu stays healthy, they're the cream of the crop.

I wasn't worried about the Steelers first month of the season. I said in my writeup that we would take 2-2 OR 3-1 if possible and that's exactly the way it went down. We had a bumpy road, but this team is full of veterans that won't let anything come between the team. I did however, say that my concern was when Ben DOES come back. Our whole entire landscape of the team changes from top to bottom, but Ben hasn't takin a hit yet, let alone take snaps in a real live game with rookie Center Pouncey and he's certainly not in football shape so it might take a game or two to get Ben to where he needs to be.

If we get the performance Ben is primed in having for the rest of the season, the Steelers could host another Championship game this season but I'm anxious to see what Ben we do get back and if he can get back on the bicycle QUICK because the later half of the season is a brutal stretch.

The NFC has been trying to catch up to the AFC Conference for years now and this season is no different. So far, it looks like the Saints was a one-time magic in the bottle deal and are quickly realizing what it's like to not only defend, but to defend with the bulls-eye on their back.

This is the first half of the season, barely enough time to see who's going to rise and fall. It happens yearly so take what you will from teams in the first half of the season, but the second half of the season is going to see a whole new line of teams that either come out of nowhere, keep playing the way their playin, or just meltdown. I still like the Pack in the NFC thus far and believe if they can get through these injuries early, then that will help them come together to win differently and make a run, esp in the conditions of Lambeau field.

I'm quite sure that Ben has already proven that he and bikes mix about as well as the Dallas Cowgirls and wins and Brett Favre and the wrong color team jersey!

Dude, you do know Brett Favre is the all time leader in yards passing, touchdowns, completions and attempts right? You do know he has a Super Bowl ring, right? The guy is a Gun Slinger and a tough old dude who plays hurt, plays through obvious pain and plays with more guts than any other QB in the league. So he throws picks? Everyone throws picks. I agree with the majority of what you say here regardless of topic, but you are dead wrong with reference to Brett Favre.

Aren't you in the Steel City? You should go and see what a truly wacked out football fan is; ie Pittsburgh. The most obnoxious fan in sports is Steeler fan.

How so? I've been to tons upon tons of Steelers game in my life and the ton of other fans experience says Steelers fans are by far the best and how they treat opposing fans in Pittsburgh. I've partied with a lot of other teams fans after a game and Steelers fans seem to embrace it rather than try to make it miserable for an opposing fan like a Tennessee Titans fan would, or a "Dawg Pound" would or even Bengals fans. Bengals fans are said to be the sickest out of them all and Titans fans are by far the rudest, next to Baltimore.

As far as obnoxious, I don't see how other than selling out other teams stadiums. I can see that getting on people's nerves but there's nothing worse than the "Who Dey" chant that roars upon Bengals stadium and "Welcome to the Jungle" being played every 5 seconds or Oakland Raiders fans dressing up like Darth Vader and/or a dude with spiked shoulder pads and painted skull faces everywhere you turn.

Did you even attend a Steelers game Dean?

It's ridiculous, almost scary, how much this city and surrounding area loves the Steeelers. There is no other sports city that I have ever been to or heard about that has even 1/10th the passion that these people do. The Mike Tomlin media briefs are on every channel and I've never heard FM radio stations broadcast press conferences and talk about the Steelers every day. More people wear Steelers gear, especially on Sundays, than anyother sports city. They are truly a part of the city's culture. It's hard to describe. Nauseating, too.

Wow, awesome. My Dad was an A.O.D Melter for A.K Steel in Butler and is a high profile worker around the county and was once top boss at A.K. Not sure if you met a big dude named "Crusher" at A.K but that's one of my dad's favorite people haha. Good stuff!

I'm not buying Brett Favre's tendinitis bullshit. This is an insurance policy in case Goodell slaps him with a suspension. There's nothing wrong with his arm.

Since when did Oliver Stone get your logon credentials? Favre is anything but a pussy, and besides, Goodell doesn't have the balls to bench a legend, a guy who has every fan watching him even if they hate him. The guy is the most compelling player in the league to say the least.

I agree with you about Favre. I'm def a huge Favre fan and I think what he has givin to the game for 20 years is just mind-numbingly in-human. I expect JFB to come out with the most hardcore stats of how Favre is a mediocre QB, but what Favre has meant to the league during his career is nothing short of legendary.

I don't think many appreciate his will and iron-man esq for a game that is not too kind to athletes. I will forever respect Brett Favre and his resume on the field and how he played it his way and only his way, even if he does force things. Many owners in this era of football would die to have a QB who has the guts to do what Favre does with the football.

Would be a shame to see Favre's streak come to an end off of allegations and suspension but I agree with Dan. They will cover it up with his elbow injury.

Tendinitis after a bye week, the same week where alleged pictures of his cock and voicemails pop up, just seems too unbelievable. I'm sure the "tendinitis" will progress in the exact same direction as the investigation.

Anyone see the video of Favre getting nailed in the junk with an errant football at practice? Pretty funny shit, given the context.

And since when was pic texting your cock illegal? God knows I have done it a thousand times. Hell, I will do it right now. Who wants to see it?

I am not a homosexual, but I saw that cock pic and it looked like a mushroom dick. Favre is what, 6'3"? No way that was his dick. If you're 75" tall, your dick is automatically bigger than a sewing thimble.
