Hilarious how Luongo claims a goal that Thomas gave up would be "an easy save" for him. It's official...this guy is a jackass. Hopefully, Thomas was listening.

You say Thomas is better? Maybe. However, Luongo has 2 SO's and a 3-2 series lead. The lopsided scores in Boston don't matter. A win is a win.

John, Luongo laid a turd in Boston. You have any idea how difficult it is for him in the city of Vancouver? To perform after those two losses? There is no greater pressure in sports IMO, than a hockey player in Vancouver this year, especially for Luongo. You happen to see the 180,000 people in the fucking street watching? That simply does not happen anywhere else in the league.

Um, yes! Anyone with eyes that function would say the same! I also suspect his second Vezina Trophy this year will support what I'm saying!

Rockindeano wrote:However, Luongo has 2 SO's and a 3-2 series lead.

His two shutouts weren't a product of anything he did. He has barely been tested in any game on Vancouver ice. The players in front of him have played exceptionally well on their own ice, and would have beat the Bruins by 5 goals in every game in Vancouver if not for Thomas playing on the level he's been playing on.

Rockindeano wrote: The lopsided scores in Boston don't matter.

Perhaps not, but any goaltender who gives up 12 goals in two Stanley Cup Finals games will NEVER be considered an elite NHL goaltender by me.

That we agree on.

And that!

Dude...are you fucking high? When the hell did Vancouver become the mecca of hockey? I get it...Canadians love hockey. That said, you're talking about this team like they have some storied fucking history. Hell, I'm older than the fucking franchise in Vancouver! The reality is that the team has never won anything (and yes, I know that is about to end). The only thing that has ever been remotely memorable for me about the Vancouver Canucks is that they gave the Bruins Cam Neely for a bag of used pucks and had the worst uniforms in the history of any sport back in the early 80's (their uniforms still suck)!

John, go read the online Vancouver Province. The first goddamned 22 pages are about the Canucks....and that isn't even the sports page! When you have throngs of people in the street, acting like they are about to be freed from a dictator led government, just to support their hockey team, that speaks volumes. I can tell you if you watch the coverage on NHL TV, the excitement is 10 fold better in Vancouver than it is in Boston. There are thousands and thousands on camera at Rogers and when you see the coverage at TD Garde, you see a few fat Bruin fans with a shit ton of Nucklehead fans bumping around on the road.

I can tell you with a straight face, that hockey bigger in Vancouver than it is Detroit, New York, Chicago and Boston. The only place that may come close is Toronto.

Dean...it's fucking Canada! These fuckers LIVE for hockey. Vancouver has absolutely nothing to do with it. I promise you that if it were Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, or Toronto in the Cup Finals, the coverage would be no less in any of those other provinces. You don't live in Boston, but I promise you that the coverage of the Bruins has been non-stop in Boston. The Bruins also have a MUCH richer history in hockey than the johnny come lately Canucks. Hell, the Patriots are the "newest" team in Boston and even they've been around 10 years longer than the Canucks!

Sure I see a difference. Big fucking deal. As I said dude...it's fucking Canada! It's their country's national sport. They better be fucking insanely excited for the only sport anyone cares about in their country. That said, I'm not sure what your point is. The comparison simply doesn't work. You have one country who cares about nothing, other than hockey, versus a country who couldn't give a fuck about hockey. It's easily a fourth place sport in this country and NASCAR is probably more popular than hockey is in this country! That doesn't make Vancouver the mecca of hockey. It just makes them a city in a country whose love of hockey is unrivaled. I suspect that if you asked a Canadian, they would tell you that hockey is much bigger in places like Montreal and Toronto. Sorry Dean, but Boston has a MUCH richer hockey history than Vancouver will ever have! I don't care how many of their fans sing the national anthem like they're at a karaoke contest.

That's a fact. This is a hockey city bigtime. The RED MILE! :D All the games sell out at the Saddle Dome, no matter how good or bad the Flames are doing.

Funny, this "story" only shows up on ESPN Boston. What a bunch of shit. I read all the Bostonian posts- pure evil scumbags. I want to dance on YOUR ice tomorrow. Our parade will be there when we return home. No need to celebrate on home ice.

I don't understand why it's such a bad thing - it says right in that story ... "The NHL, Bruins and Canucks held meetings prior to the start of the series to plan for parades in each city, which is the norm because of the amount of planning needed to prepare for such celebrations."

If both sides prep ahead of time, why is broadcast rights such a big deal? It's part of parade planning, no? And yes, of course it appears on Bruins Report. Whatever. I hope they win on Boston ice tomorrow. Just like I loved it when Chi took the cup on Philly's ice. That was a beautiful moment. :D

Perhaps the Canucks will. The first goal will be key. Luongo and Vancouver completely fold after a goal or two has been scored against them, so scoring first in this game will be critical for both teams. If Vancouver wins this series, their fans should feel very grateful, because they haven't been close to the better team in this series. I came in thinking the Canucks might sweep the Bruins. I will leave this series not terribly impressed with Vancouver, even if they do win.

Well I think the super-motivated Chicago team were the best team they met , however I think that they have met the best goalie in the series when playing the Bruins ;)

Jfb wrote: The first goal will be key. Luongo and Vancouver completely fold after a goal or two has been scored against them, so scoring first in this game will be critical for both teams.

I somewhat agree, but you do know Vancouver came from a goal down in game 2 to win, right? Say what you will about Vancouver "struggling" in this series, but they haven't gave up a lead have they?

If Vancouver wins this series, their fans should feel very grateful, because they haven't been close to the better team in this series.

What a load of shit. It's been a very difficult series, because Thomas has been so godly. However, last time I checked, the team from Canada still has won more games than the team from Boston. Boston had one game, one out of control offensive game where all the numbers got inflated. The FACT is, Vancouver has been the better team in 3 out of the 5 games.

I came in thinking the Canucks might sweep the Bruins. I will leave this series not terribly impressed with Vancouver, even if they do win.

Be not impressed, I could give a bakers fuck. We'll take the Cup, you take away bitter memories and should haves and all that bullshit. Look, it's no secret Vancouver was the best team in the league all year. Look at the record, in a tougher conference and now look who has home ice in the Finals. They earned it. They happened to run into a madman in the pipes. That being said, as of right now, he still has not outplayed Luongo. Let's break it down:

Game one. Luongo- shutout, no argument. Could have been 5-0 Nucks, but the fact is Lu gave up nil. 1-0
Game two. Luongo wins this too. Why? Well, as good as TT played, he fucked up and got burnt(along with Chara), by Burrows going wide and overplaying the puck, being way too aggressive. Burrows beat both of them by himself. Luongo in the meantime, gave up 2 goals...but the Nucks got 3. Luongo wins again. 2-0.

Game three. No contest. Lu shits the bed. Big deal. You win by one or 7, it's still only one loss. 2-1 Luongo.

Game four. Thomas awesome. He deserves this one. We're tied at 2.

Game five. Luongo shutouts the B's. Thomas gives up a softy- Lu gave up zilch. Lu up 3-2.

Now, if Luongo goes on the road and wins....well, you do the math. As for Finals MVP, it will either be Burrows (my vote), or gulp, Luongo, or even Thomas. Without Burrows, Canucks are gone.

Say what you will about giving up a snowman in game 3, but Thomas' over aggressiveness has cost Boston in 2 games.(Game 2 and Game 5).

Dean...it's not possible that you're this big of a jackass when it comes to sports. I get it dude...you apparently think you're from Vancouver. For you to say that Thomas hasn't outplayed Luongo is just plain moronic. You claim Luongo had only one bad game. As I recall, he gave up another 4 goals in the next game! Last I checked, Thomas has given up 6 goals in five games...or to put it another way, two fewer than Luongo gave up in Game 3! Sorry dude, but don't tell me that Thomas hasn't outplayed Luongo, because it makes it sound like you haven't seen a game!

Perhaps your goalie, should well, play goalie, instead of clueless defenceman, and stay in the blue paint. He does that, they already won the series. BUT, he didn't, chased two pucks where he never should have, and got burned. Scoreboard.

The goalie argument here depends on the criteria. Tim Thomas has played better overall and been far more consistent, but Luongo has been better in, and won, 3 of the 5 games. He just happens to be atrocious when he's off. It just depends on what criteria you use. I'd also add that Luongo won the close games and, while falling apart and being part of 2 blowouts isn't anything to write home about, winning all three 1 goal games is. Because good teams and goaltenders always win the close games. I'd say the next game or two will tell us who the better goalie in the series is.
