Ex-Huffington Post CEO joins Glenn Beck’s site

The left-leaning Huffington Post and Glenn Beck's recently launched news site, The Blaze, don't have a lot in common politically. But Betsy Morgan, who was previously chief executive of the Huffington Post, has been named president of the conservative TV and radio star's "four month-old information network."

Morgan's role will be to build The Blaze into the "premiere digital network curating content, community and debate and further leveraging Beck's loyal audience," according to a release.

Media watchers may be surprised by the move, but Morgan explained that its not such a great departure from her previous work.

"I am a very apolitical person," Morgan told the New York Times. "I'm a business person, who is absolutely fascinated by brands."

She added that Beck "has built for himself quite an enormous brand," and the site is designed to "leverage the huge loyalty of that audience."

I've been a Beck listener for about six years now and thought this was pretty interesting. He was saying on the radio today that she will not have any input into articles that appear on the site. I hope the site improves overall, though. While there's some good stuff to be found there, every once in a while, I have to ask what the hell they're thinking. Some of the stuff is something I'd expect a high schooler to be posting on their school's gossip page.

Just two of the many ill-advised and poorly-concieved, Republican Congressional reoncilation-forced policies dating from the Bush Administration — tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — accounted for over $500 billion of the deficit in 2009 and will account for almost $7 trillion in deficits in 2009 through 2019, including the associated debt-service costs. These impacts easily dwarf the stimulus and financial rescues. Furthermore, unlike those temporary costs, these inherited policies (especially the tax cuts and the drug benefit) do not fade away as the economy recovers.
