Good grief lady, I hate to hear that. You must have a huge practice. Good for you in that way.

Well, it's decent. The nurses that haven't quit in the last month, I've fired so that leaves me to run the place and take care of all the patients and I fired my assistant last week too! And I occasionally work in labor and delivery at a hospital on the days I'm not working or on call for home health. I'm probably going back to L&D full time here in a few months, it's my true love and it's less hours!!!!! But, truth be known, I am a workaholic!

You sound like my father. Completely different profession though. CPA. This is his busy time of the year.

Yeah, nursing is always busy!! Actually, in home health we are busiest at the end and beginning of the year because people have their elective surgeries done at the end of the year after they have met their deductibles and before they start over again but many times they still require home health after the first of the year. Labor and Delivery doesn't really have a busy season-people have sex all the time and therefore get knocked up all the time so they have babies all the time! Ah, I love delivering babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What has everyone been up to?? I have some very good news. No, I'm not pregnant with twins, or even one for that matter, but, I have broken my coca-cola habit!!

I have drank a six pack a day (minimum) for 15 years and I have not been able to quit no matter how hard I have tried! Three weeks ago I saw a neurologist for my severe headaches and he started me on Topamax which by the way works amazingly! I have only had one headache in three weeks compared to the 15-18 headaches in three weeks that I was having. Well, the one side effect I have is that I CANNOT STAND the taste of anything carbonated, including coke!!! YIPEE!! The result is that I have also lost five pounds already! OK, so the other side effect that I have is that, well, how should I put it, Topamax has a nickname...Dopamax, I do tend to say a few stupid things a day as well. Kirk and the kids actually enjoy this. For example, yesterday I was going to go running and I wanted to wear a particular "sports" bra and I told Kirk I was going to go and change into my "training" bra. He got a good laugh out of it.

So, what's going on in everyone else's life?? Do tell!

Glad to hear the Topamax helped you kick your habit. I took it for awhile myself and found the same side effect. I am such a caffeine addict, though, I am not ready to try to kick it. :)

I was a huge caffeine addict too! But I am totally fine with kicking it. I feel so much better than I have felt in YEARS. I am sleeping better, I wake up easier in the morning, I feel great, and I lost 5 lbs in the first two weeks by just cutting out the coke!! At this rate, I'll be wearing my size 2 clothes in no time.

That is great! I have cut way back on my caffeine in the last couple of years. With my well-documented insomnia (see anytime I posted after an Ambien-LOL), I need all the help I can get. Maybe you'll be my inspiration to cut it out altogether....

Someone at work said they got major headaches after quitting caffeine. Did you get any of that?

Yep, I'm sure you saw that I was in the same Ambien boat. I was drinking a minimum of a 6 pack a day-for 15 years!!!!! I seriously have not felt this good in over 15 yeas. I used to go to bed and toss and turn, flip channels on the TV for hours, watch the clock and count down the hours till I had to get up and feel very lucky if I got more than 5 hours of sleep. Now, I go to bed at 8:30 or 9:00 (except on the weekend) and I am asleep within 10-15 min and when my alarm goes off in the morning (unless I wake up before it, which is more often than not) I wake up. I am getting up at 5:30 and going to work out before I go to work in the morning and I feel great, I don't even feel tired in the morning. I never could have done it though with out the topamax because I just loved the taste of my coke to much!!!

You should do it, you will be so glad that you did!

I quit caffeine once and I did have the headaches. That is one of my reasons for NOT quitting now. I am a weenie about pain.

Liam, Congrats fella!
Damn that's a whole lotta words in thread, ain't it?

You Lot would have been proud of me last night.
Earlier this week I mentioned in post that my dear
Cousin and friend passed away, last night after her
wake we all ended up at my Uncle's place.
3 acoustic picker, 1 electric, 1 bass and one drummer.
I was on the wooden spoons and we also had family
and friends playing the tambourine and harmonica's.
I drank a mickey of vodka to myself, 4 beers and
five glasses of the best damn homemade wine I have
ever had!
Party started about 8:30pm and went until 4:30am.
I was the last one down and the first one up!
Man did I need that, what fun!, thought of you all
as we sang and drank the night away.

Drinking wine again now and wondering if any of
you are doing the same.
So, are you?............

I am in true form at a party and always enjoying
the music, sauce and good souls that I don't see
nearly enough of.
When and where did ya play the comb Larry?
Would love to hear one being played, the more
unique and instrument is the better I like it.

I'm not sure what id/mic is, so I'm guessing they didn't. The doctor thought I only had tonsilitis to begin with, so I guess that's why she went w/aug. I'm not sure how the levaquin came in - except that aug didn't work. What is a pcn shot? Interestingly, I didn't get a shot of anything at any of the 3 docs I went to!!
