TMZ has learned ... far from being kidnapped ... Michaele Salahi has run off with Neal Schon, the lead guitarist for the band Journey.

TMZ broke the story ... Tareq called authorities several times last night and today, claiming his wife has been abducted, because she left without taking her belongings.

But now we've learned ... Michaele has been dating the rock icon, went to his show in Nashville last night and is currently with Schon in Memphis, where Journey is set to perform with Foreigner.

Scoop Marketing, the rep for Journey, confirmed with TMZ that "Nobody kidnapped her and they are in Memphis together."

We've also confirmed Michaele has dated Schon in the past, and she's called it an "intimate and passionate relationship."

So that other chic of his is history?

Dang ... got 5 star coming up in Austin next week ... SO not shaking his hand ... ick!

It doesn't seem that long ago that Journey was meandering into family entertainment territory, with no booze, no drugs and no hoes in site. Thank god Neal put a stop to that shit. Schon Just needs to crack open a bottle of Grey Goose on stage and all will be right with the world.

Ok...folks...the picture that on TMZ that says it was 2010 is WRONG...the pass she is wearing is an Eclipse pass...from this year...I think that is probably a shot from the Bristow show...So TMZ is wrong on that point...and the Salahi's are already known as Star Fuckers...out for their own promotion and self agrandizement.

"She seemed calm, was engaged in conversation, and assured the deputy that she had left the residence with a good friend and was where she wanted to be," McEathron said. "Mrs. Salahi advised that she did not want Mr. Salahi to know where she was."

The deputy, who was familiar with her voice from previous conversations, positively identified the caller as Michaele Salahi, the sheriff said.

He said investigators were trying "to make additional contact with Mrs. Salahi to assure her well-being."

The FBI also is investigating, an FBI spokeswoman said.

"We have been notified and aware of the situation and are working with the Warren County Sheriff's Office," FBI spokeswoman Dee Rybiski said Wednesday afternoon.

FBI agents visited Tareq Salahi Wednesday afternoon to interview him, a law enforcement official told CNN.

The couple initially gained notoriety as White House party crashers when they were photographed with President Barack Obama at a state dinner in 2009 even though they were not on the official guest list.

Salahi said he last saw his wife at 11 a.m. at their northern Virginia home as she was leaving for a hairstylist appointment and a dance class. She did not keep either appointment, Rodriguez said.

Michaele Salahi called her husband at 7 p.m., using a cell phone with an unfamiliar Oregon number, and told him she was going to her mother's house, Rodriguez said. Her mother later told him she was unaware of her plan to visit and that she never arrived, she said.
