David Bowie dies of cancer at 69

His son, film director Duncan Jones, confirmed the news and a statement was issued on his social media accounts.

"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer," it said.

"While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief."

Wow, totally did not see that coming. I did think he looked pretty rough in the last video he shot but didn't know he was sick.
RIP Ziggy!

Wow. The Thin White Duke can't get NO love around here? I can't say I was the biggest Bowie fan in the world, but for some reason David Bowie's passing really struck me.

Looks like Blackstar is going to be No. 1 on Billboard. I like what I've heard and I'll probably be picking up a copy, since I don't do downloads.

FWIW, one of my fave Bowie tunes is "Putting Out Fire" from the Cat People soundtrack.

Been listening to Bowie all week..

Such a shock.
He did stay private though, so how were we to see this coming?

I don't like the Blackstar album, but he put out enough great stuff in the past.
I played Heroes over and over back in the day.

Found him strangely fascinating to look at.
Very interesting face.

Too young to go.
