But people who believe those things to be disqualifying never voted for him in the first place. It's not like he became president and suddenly people thought oh, this is what he's about. He's never not been that. So it's like, we've heard it a million times. Trump does lie, usually in regards to boasting and ego stuff. No one cares. Or I should say no one who voted for him cares.
It is a sad state of politics when people are saying that no one cares that the President of the United States constantly lies. It is not just about boasting or ego. My God, he lied about the predicted path of a hurricane. The entire birther thing was a lie. Just yesterday he stood in front of the press and downplayed the impact of the coronaviris...and pretended that Mike Pence is somehow qualified to lead the effort against it....while everybody else who spoke was warning against the potential impact in coming months. He lied about unemployment during Obama, saying the unemployment rate being promoted around %4 was a lie it was really up to %30...which was a ridiculous comment. But, now that he is in office the reported unemployment rate is not a lie, it's real. He lied about the tax cut, admitting it was a corporate tax cut. He lied to congress various time regarding what he would sign for health care...prompting McConnell to say that there was no use in passing a bill until Trump decided what he would sign. He lied about the Dreamers, he lied about what he would accept for gun control. HE CONSTANTLY LIES. It seems to me that every time he does some speech, he lies in it.
So why keep addressing it? He is actually quite entertaining and when you think about the forces he's up against, you kind of realize he would get nowhere if he was a Bush/Romney type.
Oh, please. He had health care and immigration compromises ready to pass and sign but since he lied and back out on what was acceptable, they went nowhere. Any Bush (Jeb!, W, GHW), or Romney would have got shit done. He is not a deal maker. He doesn't know what he is doing. The only thing he knows how to do is dictate and do presidential orders and other things that do not need congress, or things like New Nafta that nobody has an issue with.
The only success he would have is those that the ruling elites wanted. And as much as you think Trump is out of control, at least he's open and honest and up front about it.
LOL! If he is open and honest, he would release his tax returns, he would not have done a blanket executive privilege and refused to allow ANY witnesses or documents in his impeachment. Calling Trump "open and honest" is complete bullshit.
It's ok to dislike Trump's personality and it's absolutely ok to find that behavior bad enough that you would not vote for him. No one is saying people have to like the guy. But I also don't feel the need to defend every little thing. Sometimes the answer is simply that he is what he is.
If Bloomberg was nominated prior to this Trump fiasco, people like you would throw an absolute fit over these NDA's and his treatment of woman. But, for Trump, "that is what he is," and you wholeheartedly accept that he is a womanizer with multiple NDA's. What you are saying is pathetic and hypocritical. That is just one example of your utter hypocrisy.
As far as the election, it's not even fun at this point. The convention is likely to be nutty. If they try and take this from Bernie, and they will, it's going to be war in the Dem party. Hopefully two parties will emerge. Sane Dems and Socialists. The Republicans have their majority plus Never Trumpers.
If Bernie gets the needed delegates in the first vote, then it is over. If it goes to the Super delegates, IMO, it would not surprise me AT ALL if the Democrats decide to nominate a Democrat rather than an Independent using the party to run for office. The party will do what it needs to do to protect itself...just as Ted Cruz was willing to do to Trump.
That Democrats are not going to split into two parties. That is just sille.
The Republicans had a lot of people leave who can't stand Trump....many of those never trumpers. I do not believe the party grew as many think it did. Show me the numbers.
I do wonder if Hilary jumping in could excite the Dems enough to make it a contest.
That is also silly and would never happen.
But if it's anyone from the remaining group of candidates, this is just going to be an ass kicking. If it's Bernie, not only is it going to be an ass kicking, but a lot of house races will be lost for the Dems. We are not a socialist country, no matter how loud that faction is. Universal health care and free tuition and all that sounds nice, but no one can do any numbers on it in a way that would sell it to Americans. Add in the green new deal and watch how many Dems stay home on election day. Climate change has never polled high on the list of American's concerns. Not that they aren't concerned, it's just that they know other things are important to their daily lives.
You listen to too many pundits and are not making common sense. It is too early to predict ANY of this. I don't care what you are watching, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, whatever...all of this talk is just for filler and ratings. None of it is predictable. The state of things in February can not predict an election in November.
All this while Trump has never been more popular than he is today.
Not true...the poll averages are still in the mid-40's....right about where he always is.
The excitement in his base is higher than ever before. You could tell his base that the win is in the bag and there is no need to go to vote and they would still show up, MAGA hat in the front seat of their Ford F150.
Again, more predictions for things that you can't predict.
I think this election all comes down to the house. That is going to determine the next four years. The Dems know this, and it's why the party leaders want anyone but Bernie. I think they feel with Bernie, they stand to lose the house. Without Bernie, they know they will lose the presidential election, but could save the house.
That doesn't even make sense. Look at what Pelosi is saying. The House is it's own thing and those elections are not going to run off of the policy positions of the Presidential nominee. The simple fact is that Bernie IS NOT A DEMOCRAT and he is a self proclaimed SOCIALIST...so of course the party leaders are not going to like him.
That said, a market crash, corona-virus insanity, or some major new scandal could of course change all that.
Trump making an oddball speech can change things. The election in November is NOT PREDICTABLE at this point.
