Little known fact...despite being American, West was also in the running as James Bond at one point. First, Roger Moore and now Adam. Shame. Golden age class acts!

Christopher Reeve and James Brolin are a couple of other Americans who were rumored to have been in the running for James Bond at different time periods too. Brolin almost was cast as Bond. Supposedly Clint Eastwood and Burt reynolds were considered at one time too, although I think that they would have been horrible choices for Bond, and I'm not convinced that there ever was any truth to those rumors?

Snippets of the Brolin screen tests can be found on YouTube. I think Brolin and West would have done a great job. That's what Craig doesn't *get.* It's pulp spy fantasy - not Shakespeare in the fucking park!

Yeah that is too bad. I was just talking with a friend of mine over the weekend and we happened to get on the subject of who we enjoyed in the tv/movie business that are getting pretty old. We through out a half a dozen names, Adam West not being one of them though, during that part of the conversation such as Burt Reynolds, Lee Majors, Clint Eastwood, R. Lee Ermey, Dick Van Dyke etc.

Batman was one of my favorite shows when I was little kid, though it was only reruns of the shows by the time I was old enough to watch them. Adam West was in the Batman series roughly 10 years before my time though. But that was one of my favorite shows to watch when I was very young.

Also Adam West was recently doing a public appearance that I heard being promoted on the radio. I wish at that time that I knew it was going on and I would have been there to meet him. But now unfortunately I'll never get that opportunity again.

Bat-Signal to Shine Over L.A. in Honor of Adam West

Mayor Eric Garcetti will light up the sky Thursday to remember the late 'Batman' actor.

The bat-signal will shine one final time for a beloved Dark Knight.

The late Adam West will be honored Thursday night with a lighting of the iconic signal in Los Angeles, with Mayor Eric Garcetti and L.A. Police Department Chief Charlie Beck doing the honors.

The public is invited to the event, which will take place at 9 p.m. at City Hall (200 N. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90012). West, who played the Caped Crusader on the classic 1960s series Batman, died Saturday at 88.

Tributes have poured in, including from the TV show's Robin, actor Burt Ward, who wrote in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter that the star never felt like he'd been held back by playing the superhero.

"People always asked Adam if he felt like he’d been typecast, if Batman had hurt his career. But I know he loved it. He loved being a star," wrote Ward.

For fans who can't make it to the ceremony, West's family is encouraging people to donate to the Adam West Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations can also be made to Camp Rainbow Gold, an Idaho-based charity for children battling cancer.
