80's Rewind Show

Postby Eric » Wed Aug 02, 2017 11:56 pm

Billy Ocean
Starship
Taylor Dayne
Naked Eyes
The Motels

It was FREE at the newly renovated Dome Arena in Rochester, NY (very low on our concert venue totem pole but nonetheless a nice update). Crowd was very small unfortunately.

Only Billy Ocean had his own band. The other 4 acts were just the lead singer with the same band. Mickey Thomas was good as usual...But Taylor Dayne was shockingly amazing. She had a great set of most of her hits (which number at 9 top 10) and she also did Tina Turner's Simply The Best.

Martha Davis sounds good still.

Fun time.

Thomas is a vocal freak. Still killing it nightly.

He sounded really good. I was hoping to hear him do Fooled around and fell in love...but he didn't.

Taylor Dayne's the real deal. She was a guest on a weekly podcast I used to listen to, and she started belting it out on the cheapo mic they gave her — no reverb, no effects, no nothing. I'm not into her music but her talent is undeniable.

I pretty much hear their music on the work radio station all day long. But for a free show, yes that is a pretty sweet 80's pop bill.
