Glad To See Things Finally Moving Forward

For the record, I never particularly liked the 'Wiggle' threads either, nor did I like the similar ones for Steve Perry or even Neal at times. I simply chalked it up to it's a woman thing and passed them by for threads that were more my liking.

You can bet, however, JSS won't be exempt from these types of threads. I'm sure, especially now that he's confirmed as Journey's new man out front, his female fans are already thinking up ways to similarly show their undying affection for the man.

Lots of things here that I want to respond to, but I don't want to take the time to quote them all.

I think Rich is just trying to cloak his jabs in what he thinks will pass as a conciliatory post. How'd that work for ya Rich?

No cloaking of true intentions at all. Simply saying I welcome Jeff aboard and that I continue to be sickened by what I consider to be over the line personal attacks and disrespect for Steve. I am sad Steve had to leave this way, but do understand that if Steve can no longer perform at the level necessary to pull it off, someone else has to do it. Why not JSS? He's long been one of the great rock vocalists in the World, however not as well known here in the States. This is his opportunity and I think it's great.

I know many tried to turn my posts in defense of Steve into an anti-JSS slant, but I think the written record of my posts shows a much different story. I even created the very first Message Group for Soul SirkUS at Yahoo. Jeff even took the time to come up there and say a few things. He's a great person, as well as one of the finest rock vocalists and songwriters on the planet today.

His addition to Journey will, in my estimation, most definately wratchet up the machine. I fully expect more great things from the band and JSS. Hope it equates into more publicity and radio airplay, but I also realize the Politics of today's Music business. If it happens, that's great. If not, so what. For me, the band has always been the greatest on the planet and always will be.

As I said before. Unless you were a part of the band's inner circle, you knew nothing of what was really happening inside the band. People openly speculated and some were right in their speculation. Doesn't make it anything more than speculation.

As for myself, my opinion was always wait until the band says it and you can take that to the bank. Although I supported Steve and always will, the band is a business and business decisions are made all the time. Changing to Jeff is a business decision and as I've always supported the band and it's decisions, I support this one also.

Sorry to disagree, but your "major egg in face coming for many here" is speculation just the same as the speculation you decry - and it's a really arrogant and condescending statement as well. How was you egg served ~ scrambled, raw, sunny-side up?? It's one thing to wait for an official statement, but quite another to thwack people who express their opinions and then get huffy and dramatic when they call you on it. JMO

The 'egg in face' comment was made in the heat of the moment. I think it was rather mild considering the crap that was being thrown at Steve, those that supported him and everyone at BT. I make no apologies for it.

As I said, when other individuals here pony up to the bar and apologize for their many over the top, condescending and outright personal affronts, I'll be more than happy to reciprocate.

Otherwise, I've never had a favorite in the race. I was openly disgusted with the attack machine on Steve and said so. I was unwilling to concede a change had been made until the horse (the band) said it. You and I have heard many rumors throughout the years over at BT and throughout this Community and we've both taken it all wioth a grain of salt. Why were these rumors any different? They aren't really. Just so happened those here had a wish, were pushing it as something that had already happened and ended up guessing correctly.

I never contested there could be a change. Just was hoping for more respect for Steve and the band...which unfortunately never happened.

Steve Perry has definately seen his share of unwarranted attacks. Mostly from people that never knew him and were commenting on things they heard on the rumor mill.
