Nice diversionary tactics.

Everyone knows who Ross was speaking of. Don't be stupid.

Am I vain? Some say yes, I say I was just telling the truth. No one else had the balls to take Journey on and affect change. So yeah, I'll take your kudos. Call me vain, I don't care. It is what it is.

I like Carly Simon. Please don't tarnish her in my mind...I will think of that faggy bird who is on fire everytime I hear the song.

Dude, I am off today. I will kindly debate you (light you up), if you are willing.

Dream Journey Project
To promote a Latin rhythm-flavored JOURNEY album.
.........by murdering all the members of Journey and replacing them with a Mariachi band.

That's about the only way that dream will ever happen.

Time to close the borders Pedro.

Regarding "Saving the band"- Personally, I don't think that exposing the tape thing "saved" the band. I think it damaged them and their reputation in a major way. I think it will always be something that comes up with them in interviews and when people want to knock Journey it will be used. It may have saved the band as a creative entity (that remains to be seen), I might agree with that, but in the press and with a lot of fans, I think it really dented their image. Journey should've thought of that - but also to have it exposed nationwide... I don't think there's any way that can help the band. It should've been handled privately, but then it would've gone on and on because it wouldn't have been handled. Hearing f*ckheads like Mark and Bryan making fun of it... I'm not sure how that helped the band. If I were Journey, I would NEVER do another interview with those monkeys. It's a major sad chapter in the band's history. I would wager that it's ruined Augeri for sure and negated the good stuff that he did bring to the band , and yeah, he did actually bring some goodness to the band no matter what some people say (yeah, yeah, whatever...). I just think these people that are saying how great it was for Journey that it was exposed really can't tell that yet. One good tour with Def Leppard does not a band's history make.

It was definitely good for JSS! :) But I bet that he wasn't 'jumping for joy' over the circumstances as a fan. There are a lot of thoughts on this and it won't be settled here, but we'll have to see what happens. In the meantime, if the band wants to erase what happened, they're going to have to work 10 times as hard to make that happen. I think that if Ross chooses to deny it, I think that's really all he can do if the band wants to move forward. Imagine what would happen if the band admitted it. EVERYTHING would be in question. They'd have to spend the majority of their time dealing with that instead of doing what matters- the music. I think the only thing they can do is deny it if they want to move on. There are those who know what 'really' happened and everybody here knows who you are and you know what you know. Is it really necessary to paint a big target on the band outside of a bunch of internet forums until they give props to the people that outted them? Let them handle it how they want and let them move on. It's over, let it go.

Speaking of tapes... has anybody watched the Bon Jovi Crush Tour DVD? In Living on a Prayer- WHO is singing the high notes? It certainly ain't Jon, Richie, or Bryan. Watch that and notice how on the money notes Jon makes the audience sing them, yet it sounds just like the record. They made sure to cut to the crowd on most of those notes too. Lame. Guess it's time to start a blog. ;)

Brywool,

I respectfully disagree. Look, the band were going through the motions. Go watch a 2005 video. You can see the look or boredom or fear on the faces of Neal and Jon. Bored because it became stale..no new creativity, no new chemistry, just going out, playing and getting paid. I also think they were fearful that something might go wrong, which it did in Manchester, UK.

Here is what I want.

I want Journey (all 5 of them), to deny it ever happened. I want the band to kick ass, which they are doing now. This topic will perhaps never die, and for the life of me, the defenders of Augeri keep bringing it up. Why would you keep bringing something up that was detrimental and embarrassing. Folks, I know the ins and outs of the scandal. To challenge me on this over and over is just idiotic. You need to move on and let it go. I want to let it go too, but certain people need to think before they speak to a press source. I think Ross fucked up, and that's why I responded. I do know Ross is a human being and all humans make mistakes, so I will move on from this as well.

So we can either continue to hash this interview out over and over, or we can let slip ups be slip ups and move on.

Folks, this band is pretty fucking good right now. Let's try to enjoy it.

PS- Frye wings...I will however continue to kick your sorry beaner ass again and again.

I've only seen one from that era. But I did see the Vegas one and yeah, I did notice that as well. Hey Deano, I totally admit that Journey seems more fired up now. I see that. I remember seeing them with Augeri when he first joined and they also had a lot more energy. It's that new car smell. I remember hearing early boots where the crowd was going apeshit for the new lineup (as they are with Jeff now). I think many folks were just happy that the band was back from the 'dead'.

But 'no new creativity'- in a concert setting? There's not a lot of creativity you can have there. You're just playing your hits for the billionth time, right? The chemistry seemed to be there with everyone but Neal and Jon (who NEVER looks like a happy guy). You're right- you could tell that Neal wasn't digging it. So you're right about that. AND (more importantly) when tapes were being used, then it shouldn't have gone on.
I'd like to hear a new Journey album before making the call on if the creativity has blossomed. I hope it has and I hope that if they get a label behind them that they don't have to lock their balls in a safe as they did with Arrival. But I don't think it was a good thing for them for it to 'get out' and have the press eat it up. I wish that they would've handled it how it should've been handled, but they were in a bind. I do know what went down with Augeri (at least his side of it) but I cannot elaborate. There are III sides to every story.
I guess if the band needed to make a change, they should've just done it the right way and the way it was handled was what was so lame.

My gripe is that it should've been handled privately rather than all over the Inet. BUT- they wouldn't have taken care of it without getting pushed to do so. It's a Catch22. Yeah, I think Ross should be allowed to handle it how he wants.

All the better. None of the illegals I know are Olympic material however if there's ever an Olympic event which requires athletes to run through a desert at midnight wearing blue jeans, cowboy boots and a sombrero - I know a few who could take the Gold.

I like the new avatar! Sombrero and burritos! NICE!

I think you should submit that for the next JOURNEY album cover when they do Latin rhythms. It will have JOURNEY fans saying, "Who needs Elmo - we've got Deano Sombrero!"
