Girlschool guitarist Kelly Johnson lost her battle with cancer and has died.

Damn shame to see another woman in metal lose her life. No, she wasn't the greatest guitarist, but when compared to the big guys of the day, she could very well hold her own. My sympathy goes to her friends and her family.

Like with The Runaways, the early days of metal are not my forte. But Girlschool is another one of those highly influential female rock bands that no doubt inspired others to play. 'Hit N Run' especially got a number of spins on my stereo first time I got the reissue.
