I'm referring to the idiocy of talking about an "undefeated" team, EVERY season in the NFL! These jackasses (and I'm referring to the sports media) do this as soon as a team is
3-0 (It started this season when the Patriots were 2-0). They then proceed to talk about it day, after day, after day after day! It's not surprising just how sick of hearing about it everyone is, come three months later! The undefeated season never meant much to me (I was sure the Patriots would lose at least one game, during the regular season). The 1972 Dolphins are the only proof anyone ever needs to prove that going undefeated means nothing. Outside of the guys who played on that team and those with Miami roots, you'll never hear anyone in football circles talk about that team as being among the greatest ever! It don't mean a thing without the ring! Even if the Patriots play the pathetic Dolphins or Jets in the first game of the season next year, I'll be hoping for a loss, so we can move on and just play football!

Not a single one tainted. There's absolutely no proof of cheating to win those Super Bowls.

All that nonsense about cheating is just losing teams jumping on the bandwagon for excuses.
Kurt Warner and the Rams lost because they thought they had it all wrapped up before the opening kickoff and didnlt play with the same intensity the Pats did. That's pretty much what happened to the Pats this year against the Giants.

The game is won and lost on the field, nowhere else.

Gary...

People who hate the Patriots will always hate the Patriots. What's done is done. As 7 Wishes pointed out in another thread...The championship era 49'ers were cheating on the salary cap and even had a draft pick taken away from them for doing it, but everyone seems to have forgotten about that, because it didn't happen in the past 12 months. I won't ever condone Belichick recording the other coaches defensive signals, but not because I think it's wrong! It's only because the NFL says it isn't allowed. As I've pointed out before, there isn't one single football coach I have ever come across who doesn't record EVERYTHING he possibly can! It's been going on in the NFL, since video cameras were invented, and it won't stop any time soon!

Agree 100% John.

Even if the Pats lost at least I can say I got to watch my team play in the Super Bowl and have a chance at winning it.

Oh, and Belicheck still has more rings than Mercury Morris.

2

Not exactly beating Miami by a landslide in the Super Bowl win category.
Shula/Miami did not have to cheat in order to get their rings.
17-0 the ONLY pefect season in NFL history.

Do yourself a favor and look up the definition of "sour grapes", dude! As I said, my opinion of the 1972 has NOTHING to do with the Patriots. I thought that 72 Dolphins team was a fraud of a team, back when the Patriots were winning 2 games a season! As a member of the media said tonight...the 72 Dolphins are the most CLASSLESS guys in ANY sport! I don't recall seeing Dan Marino openly whining about Brett Favre breaking his records! These guys are fucking clowns, and the world will be a better place when they're miserable asses are silenced, forever!

As I've said to EVERY jackass Dolphin's fan I've run into...educate yourself about the NFL, before just spouting off at the mouth that the 72 Dolphins are the greatest team ever! They're NOT! They NEVER have been! They NEVER will be! As I said...they were 16-0 going into the Super Bowl, and yet still UNDERDOGS to the Redskins! How the fuck can a team be 16-0 and an underdog??? I'll tell you how...They played NOBODY that entire season! Those fuckheads probably wouldn't beat the 2007 Dolphins, and we know how much that team sucked!

1972 Dolphins.

17-0 with a backup quarterback most of the season.

6 players on that team and the head coach are in the Hall Of Fame.

Went to 3 Super Bowls in a row, won it in '72 and '73.

Didn't have to cheat.

As Larry Csonka once said, PERFECTION ends a lot of arguments.

wanna know what I know about the NFL??? OK, here goes-I know that Miami went perfect in the regular season and won the SuperBowl, noone else has INCLUDING NE so that alone should make them the best ever, at least until someone tops it. I know that Miami did not use video tape on opponents as NE did. What else do I need to know???? Get over it, NE lost. I still believe they were the best team in the league this year but not on SuperBowl night. Nuff said!

Um, no. Rocky Marciano finished his career undefeated, but nobody ranks him as the best boxer of all time. Very few people who are not Dolphins fans would rank the 1972 Dolphins in the Top 5 of all time. They only beat 2 teams that finished with 10 wins or more all season. The Pats beat six 10-win teams this year.

Dude...we get it...you have a boner for that entire cesspool of a state (appropriately named "The Swamp")! Listen...I can assure you that I am WAY over the fact that the Patriots lost. In spite of what you think, it really isn't the end of the world for me! Like I said 1000 times, my opinion of the fraudulent 1972 Dolphins has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING related to ANY team who calls Boston home! It's a football game, and life goes on. Just because I grew up in Boston doesn't mean I'm on here saying the Patriots are the best team the NFL has ever seen! Like NIG said, Rocky Marciano went undefeated in his entire career, and NOBODY would claim he was the best boxer ever!

If the 1972 Dolphins, played in college under the BCS system, they wouldn't have even had the opportunity to play for a championship because the schedule they played was so fucking embarrassing! If you don't believe me, ask University of Hawaii fans! They went 12-0 this year, and were THE ONLY undefeated team in division 1A football! They didn't get a sniff at a title game, because their schedule is so embarrassing! You are absolutely correct when you say the 72 Dolphins are the only undefeated team in NFL history! That is a statement of fact. Just don't call them the best team ever, because it's simply not even close. The 1985 Bears team would have beat the 72 Dolphins by 50 points!

I have no problem with you hating Boston! Regardless of what you say about Boston, it has more historical significance of ANY city in this country! It also has the best colleges in the country and the best hospitals in the country, so it at least has something going for it! Florida is just where old fucks go to die!

Also, in terms of a healthy place to live, take a look at this list!

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0921974.html

You'll notice the ONLY non-New England state on the list is Minnesota! Massachusetts always ranks in the top 5, and your shithole of a state always ranks in the bottom 5! Also, as an FYI, a guy from Boston didn't create this list

I didnt start home state bashing, you did. I have no problem with your hatred towards Florida. True-old people go to Florida to retire but also MILLIONS of people go each year for vacations, relaxation, and just to have fun. And if you wanna talk about colleges, University of Florida, Miami, Florida State, Central Florida, South Florida, FAMU, FIU,FAU--I dont think we're doing too bad here either. So NE is a healthier state-BIG DEAL!!! Thats not enough incentive for me to go there. I can be healthy in any state, thats my choice, not where I live!

That's not what I said. Listen, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile! Just don't talk to me about these "great" Florida colleges, because in education circles, they've always been known as a joke! My point stands...Don't compare schools like Miami and Florida State to schools like M.I.T., Harvard, or even Boston College! Hell, at Miami, a g.p.a. of 1.0 is "Dean's List" worthy!

Also, in terms of a healthy place to live, take a look at this list!

EWE!!!! I went from a mid-level state to "THEE" unhealthiest state. WOW, I didn't realize there were so many ill people here. We "snowbirds" (as I was once known) go to FLA. every spring to escape the cold weather and the dreariness of winter. I guess the places we spent our time, Daytona Beach and Orlando, seemed youthful to me and I continued to take my family from LA. for UCA Cheerleading Nationals, Daytona Beach and Disney World...I love FLA. Although, I know many people retire in FLA...you would think they'd have better healthcare.

John from Boston~ In celebration of our countries Bicentennial, my family traveled to your great city and it was one of the most memorable, educational and breath-taking moments of my life. I could feel the history as if I were living it myself. I know things have probably changed since 1976...but it was AWESOME and I will NEVER forget it as long as I live. The placement of Massachusetts on this list does not surprise me at all.
AND in the 80's CHEERS was my all time favorite sitcom.

I have always believed the cold weather helped to preserve people...the heat & humidity we experience down here MUST BE KILLING US!!! :(

Hey Michigan Girl...

I'm glad you had such a memorable experience visiting Boston. I'm obviously VERY biased, but I think it's a SUPERB and VERY unique city! Hey, we produced Steve Smith, so how bad can we be, right?

On another note, it is rather interesting that all of the healthiest places to live are FRIGID states, so you might be on to something. If you look at the bottom states, they're all warm weather states. I know that Florida and South Carolina have always lagged behind many states in healthcare, so that explains why they both rank so low on this list. I'm sure Florida is a wonderful place to be in January, if you're from a cold part of the country. That said, it's the MOST OVERRATED state I've ever visited. It's flat, unatttracitive (unless you're on a beach), and if you're in south Florida, you have to drive 10 hours just to get out of the state! I've spent two weeks in Orlando and two weeks and Tampa and honestly thought Orlando was a shithole! I was somewhat suprised because of the Disney thing (I wasn't there for Disney). I figured a city that is the host to Disney should be a bit nicer than it was! I understand Scarab is from there and loves the place (as well he should). We should all love where we're from. I just don't have any need to be loyal to Florida, and all their thug colleges where majoring in basket weaving is the norm for "student athletes"
