Without a doubt. He frequents this site quite often and is pretty open about it. He knows this is the best place to come for real feedback. If he needs his ego stroked he cruises on over to BT. If he wants answers that are close to the truth he comes here. 8) Hey Neal, how happy were you with the road crew when you were playing air guitar the other night?  :P

3) Why did Journey not play in England or the rest of Europe for all those years? We wanted you to come over. Forget punk, pop, new romantics and all that stuff which was happening at the time......we wanted Journey. And we waited...............and waited.

1. How many chicks have you banged in your life? Is it more than Gene Simmons?

2. Knowing what you know now, would you have continued Journey in 1987 or even replaced Perry in '84? Would you have done TBF or the "Journey Beyond" thing with Chalfant/Rolie?

3. [Since the Hagar, Santana, how much longer active, and being a bad mofo questions (especially this one) were already asked] Going back again, do you wished you stood up for Steve Smith and Ross Valory more and not fired them back in '86? Do you wish Herbie was still managing the band?

Bwahahaha...John, that fucking slayed me!!! Bravo!!!

I would ask:

1. "Do you sleep at night knowing how many people you've fucked over to get where you are?"
2. refer to some pictures of his fro from the 70s and go 'What the fuck were you thinking?'
3. I'd punch him repeatedly in the head until he dropped to the floor and standing over his now even shorter stature ask him "does that hurt?"

I only have one question, and that would be, "We know that fro was and still is the source of your magical musical powers, but ever since it started growning inward, bad things have befallen the band, so would you agree that internal fro syndrome is responsible for the last 2 years and as a small follow up, is there a treatment to reverse the problem so this band can stop being an embarrasment and get back on track?"

I might also ask if he happens to know if Cain's 1986 temp-fro, and/or subsequent damage, contributed to the various disasters.

You caught that damn.

Alright:
1. How many chicks have banged in your life and anyone famous?
2. Knowing what you know now, would you have continued Journey in 1987, replaced Perry in '84, or would you have even done TBF or the "Journey Beyond" thing with Chalfant/Rolie?
3. Is there anything else you would have done differently?

3 Questions. :P :P

1. What are your future plans as a musician?
2. When do yo plan on retiring?
3. How hard is it to keep a straight face when MelodicRock forum members act as though they know the members of Journey personally and were there to personally witness key business activities that went on behind the scenes?

1. Why haven't you picked up the phone and called JSS to explain why you off'd him?

2. I once saw you in concert with Paul Rodgers. You asked the hot blond standing next to me backstage after the show. Did you bang her?

3. Do you shop at Wal-Mart?

This made me laugh out loud. A classic line, to be sure. But I think the band is well back on track...how many bands go platinum 30 years after their first platinum record? Can anyone name one?

What would you ask Neal Schon

Postby artist4perry » Sat Jul 12, 2008 3:27 am

Thank you Cyndy! It drives me nuts when people write his name wrong. I guess because so many articles get it messed up.

1. I would ask Neal if you had it all to do all over again, what decisions would you have avoided.
2. Would you think more before you said some of the things you have said.

Hey Susie - 80s man gave a short answer - but its correct Perry just didnt want to come over here after the 1979 (i think) tour with pat travers - bloody shame - i remember going to Woolies and seeing Frontiers at number 11 - it may have peaked higher - and thinking why dont those sods get over here. p.s. you are, as we say in scotland - good crack.

The Eagles

According to RIAA (the group that certifies gold/platinum):

first platinum record "Hotel California" certified 12/15/1976

"Long Road Out of Eden" - certified platinum 11/30/2007 certified multiplatinum(7) 01-07-2008

It was probably the Wal-Mart deal.

The personal insults and mockeries in this thread are appalling. I can't believe it has been allowed. Tito and SJ never said anything of this magnitude yet were reprimanded.

NO ONE deserves public humilatition of these sorts, whether actions are substantiated or not, which, btw, WE have no way of knowing. Neal, the artist, deserves much more respect from a forum which is intended to celebrate his band, and him. Neal, the person, deserves more respect, period. Neal's dealings, as a business man, is none of our fluffin business. His 'opponents' can handle themselves and don't need us to humiliate him for them, no matter what he has or hasn't done.

I'm ready for the schutt storm. let me have it.

better yet, Andrew, please delete this thread. I hereby put myself on vacation, lest I say anything else.

IMO, no vacation required! I gave serious questions that I am interested in knowing, and they had nothing to do with his personal life (except maybe how he handles health issues like cramps or carpal tunnel - heck, I get those just typing!). :)

I know Neal reads here and I was hoping that one of these days I'd hear the answers! :)

Hey, CDL I asked serious questions too. I just think you assume I'm joking! ;)

OK, all joking aside, and with all due seriousness....Neal's personal dealings, depending on who you are, are very much in play here. It really depends on what your point of view is here...and that's the heart of the matter. I liken this to Clinton's Lewinski mess. Some people consider the fact that Clinton banged a a barely legal intern to be an issue of importance....others didnt. *both* sides had a point.

I'm viewing this much the same way....In my point of view, and one where my musical creation is born *directly* out of my personal life, Neal's personal life is just as important and relevant as his ability to deliver his music, which he reportedly culls from his own life....(otherwise, you can argue the guy's a musical fraud!)

Think about it. How can you claim someone plays or sings with 'emotion' while dismissing the fact that he's a cold hearted bastard. It's impossible. Because what you hear and what really exists are two different things.

Now, CDL, please keep in mind, I consider you a truly genuine and good hearted person....so I want to quantify that while I can be rough over here at MR.com, I want you to understand that what I'm saying in this post is simply a respectful disagreement with your point of view. I hope you can understand. Thanks! ;)

If I knew how to post pictures I'd post one of a standing ovation. What the fuck has Neal ever done? Been divorced 5 times? Whoopty fucking doo. No one's business but his and the ladies involved and their children. People act like he's tried to skip out on payments and is some sort of monster. Is he perfect? No, but neither is anyone else here. This guy isn't anything but a guy that grew up on the road, has worked his ass off, made incredible music and some mistakes along the way. Hey, he's out in the open. He doesn't hide, he doesn't look back, and he's seemingly in the best place he's been in in a long time. He's off the booze, he has his band back, and he's got a new singer, a great Wal Mart deal and a huge tour on the horizon. A few joking questions would have been fine, but some of the shit is just dumb. To basically treat this guy on par with a fucking criminal or deranged weirdo is just silly. Frank, enjoy the fucking music, man. Quit thinking so much...you're turning Neal Schon 101 into advanced Calculus when it's basic addition, bro. You've seemingly harbored sour grapes over some web design deal gone bad for far too long. He aint paying you, man. Let it go!!! :P

CDL has a point.

And I did make a disparaging joke at Neal's expense.

Frankly, when I hear him play, I could not care less about his personal life. Not one person on this board is a saint (SJ notwithstanding  ) and lord knows I would not want my past mistakes or personal life plastered all over the internet, to be commented on by people I don't know or who don't know me.

I can be upset by business decisions (can you spell JSS?) or not like a musical direction, those are fair game. If I have a personal experience of meeting him, I can talk about that and make a conclusion. A good natured jibe about an afro back in the day (hey, you should have seen when I wore platform shoes!) No problem.

But when marriages fail, it's not a joking matter. When someone admits to a problem with alcohol and is working on getting their life on track at age 54 or age 24 that is not a joking matter.

I have been thinking - I put down Jon Cain all the time. The man plays like no one else I've ever heard. And do you know, the one time I met him he was smiling and friendly.

I am guilty of getting caught up in what on the surface, is having a laugh. Nothing wrong with that. Except when it hits personal, and this one did.

Neal reads this board for feedback - I think that is great. And he hears kudos and criticism of Journey's latest incarnation and anger that JSS/Augeri were let go. That is fine. He should not have to sift through insults to get to that information.

I think from now on I won't post what I would not say to a person's face if I met them.

That's just how I feel.

And if I ever get a chance to meet Neal, I'll ask him my questions!

:)
