HAVE YOU GOT W.E.T.? What do you think?

Postby JSS PROMOTIONS » Fri Nov 06, 2009 11:23 pm

Hi Everyone,

I thought it might be best to start a thread relating to the W.E.T. CD/DVD and the opinion of the people buying the album.

With all reviewers giving it stunning ratings, it comes down to the fans of melodic rock music to have their say.

So, let me know what YOU think and give your rating.

I think it's the best work JSS has ever done! It's his best singing and the best songs he's sang on.

I absolutely love it. Fantastic songs. Jeff's vocals are out of this world. Love the videos, the art work. Its an all round stunning package and I am still obsessively playing it. It is everything I hoped it would be and more!!!

Superb and worthy of great success 10/10

Postby Muggins » Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:56 am

In my humble opinion W.E.T. is a masterpiece. Superb songwriting and an amazing vocal performance with Jeff singing in his higher 'Journey' range. Great musicians all round and excellent mastering. It's the sound quality of this CD that grabs you first, as the whole production is amazing. I can't stop playing it and each time a new track grabs my attention. It's beautifully paced with a range of tempos and catchy choruses. 'Comes Down Like Rain' stands out for me as a track that deserves radio airplay. A sad and very moving video to watch as it contains one of Marcel Jacob's last appearances.

My main concern is the same issue I have with all of Jeff's releases ie. This deserves to be huge. Where is the promotion and publicity to push it out there to the masses? Even though it's a truly amazing album, no one seems to know about it... other than the usual small number of fans. I want this to be global with a massive world tour promoting it! I want to see all the rock magazines containing adverts and billboards everywhere! I want to see music shops selling it, with posters advertising it in store. But most of all I want to hear a single on the radio. Will this ever happen with Jeff's material? Or is it just a case of fans spreading the word. This album deserves so much more.

Absolute instant classic!
This album has set the bar for
melodic rock's future...

Sadly, Big Corporate Radio/TV will miss it completely
and it will not get NEAR the praise/airplay it deserves...
Kinda like the rest of Jeff's stellar career

At least he KNOWS he can count on us

It's the shitty way of the world and the climate of the music/entertainment industry nowadays.
Pick any one album from Jeff's solo catalog, zip back in time and release it in the years
1982-1988... INSTANT SMASH! Release W.E.T. in 1984-1988... It would be talked about NOW
as one of the greatest melodic rock albums of all time.

The public "listens to and buys" what Big Corporate radio/TV programs them
to listen to and buy. It's pretty sad... Artists like Jeff suffer...

LOVE it! Great songs, great vocals! I've only got a handful of cds that I let play completely through and 2 of them are Jeff's. This one and LITT. LOL, ok with LITT, I play Dulce Lady first, then go back and let the whole thing play through. Do the same with this one......I play If I Fall, then play the cd through. :D If I Fall is the best song I've heard in years! And the vocals are just simply stunning! But then I knew from day one, he could emote the hell out of a song! :D

Love this CD from top to bottom. JSS is featured perfectly and his vocals are through the roof. A CD you can connect with from the get-go and that's a rarity for the first few spins. The music behind his vocals are awesome and the band really sticks out all together, making this a great album for sure.

My favorites:

One Day At A Time
One Love
Brothers In Arms
Invincible
Comes Down Like Rain
My Everything
If I Fall
Comes Down Like Rain

I just listed more than half of the songs that I consider re-doable favorites from day to day. Good job JSS and W.E.T for givin us a helluva C.D.

Love the videos too, especially Comes Down Like Rain and Brothers In Arms (I love videos made from the fun, extra, backstage goofing-around footage). :)

21st Century opened the door into another world.

Lost in the shadowss of a silent darkness I am lifted by a voice with the melody of a heart that reaches deep into my spirit.

I put the CD on my Christmas list, so now I have to wait to hear it as an album. But I have been listening to the songs on YouTube and so far my favourite song is If I Fall: engaging intro, great melody and guitar work (very Neal sounding to me), excellent lyrics and a catchy chorus! This is a very radio-friendly song too, so I hope it gets a lot of exposure and airplay - I think it's better than any other new song currently on the radio.

Chart success!

I wonder if the new W.E.T. album is in the charts anywhere! Sales seem good with amazing reviews and I read somewhere that it was No. 7 in Sweden, or something!

Well Richard, in my nappy-haired, 40lbs of middle-aged boobie opinion.... 8)

So far I think W.E.T. is a very ambitious album, I like almost every song on it which is rare for me. I also like the writing, very poetic and personal. Gals love when men spill their guts musically. At least I do.

Jeff’s voice is well seasoned and fits the tone of the songs well. It shows in his vocal abilities that he appears comfortable where he stands at this time in his life. When I saw him with TSO, the first time I ever heard him in concert, I liked his sort of dramatic theatrical style of voice. After having researched some of his earlier work including Talisman; Prism; Cats & Dogs and now Beautiful Mess and W.E.T. I believe his voice grew up with him quite pleasantly and he still possesses enough fire to belt from time to time. Kinda cool. Never heard Jeff with Journey, but if I close my eyes one song only slightly reminds me of Steve Perry, “If I fall.”

I may be working with a new young male artist, someone local. I let him listen to Beautiful Mess and W.E.T and he was impressed. Luckily for Jeff he seems to have fans of all ages as well as regions. Sorry, I am not good at "rating" things if by rating you mean giving a number, but overall I enjoy W.E.T. MBPL :D

Yes, if we all keep converting people one at a time, and the new recruits do the same and so on in no time at all we will have converted ??????? (Well a lot of people!!! Maths never was my strong point) I am going to go quietly away now as I am beginning to sound like a cult (yes that is cult!) leader.
