HAVE YOU GOT W.E.T.? What do you think?

I'm really into "If I Fall"
Jeff takes us to heaven on the wings of an angel on the vocals

Anyone think the intro sounds like

Be Good To Yourself?

Only a tiny bit. After the guitar riff when the drums enter a few chords in, but only slightly. What am I, a music critic? Seriously, I hadn't thought about it 'till you brought it up. But, the singing on this song does kind of remind me of Perry's voice if he was singing right now. Both men are years apart, but for some reason if I close my eyes I can hear sketches of Perry in there.

Have a great evening, Miss Shadowsong! :D

Hi, just got home from the gym & enjoying a nice salad w grilled chicken & a glass of wine.
simple pleasures are so nice.
My your abs look tight
Congrats

Sorry to bring it up but the intro is so similar but heck its all good & yes JSS has that perry vibe when Perry uses his lower register which he has & its quite remarkable so he should use it more.

Watching some of the best vintage Xmas Saturday Night Lives
Mr Robinsons Neighborhood & Sweaty Balls...
Stellar just like Jeff, they make me feel good & this day has had its ups & downs.
When it comes to the end of the day
guess its in gods hands & tonight I am missing a good friend & my sadness runs deep.

Happy Holidays to you.

Had no idea you lost a friend, my dear. Condolences to you.

Oh, my tummy only looks flat stretched out. Actually, I find the stomach the hardest part to train. But, thank you for the compliment. Hate going to the gym, can only go on weekends, but it serves a necessary evil..the aging process and basic physical health, you know.

Don't apologize for the Perry/JSS comparison, I like that.

Girl, you kidding? OMG, I love the Schweaty Balls skit! When Alex Baldwin was on SNL all those times, in my opinion he hit the nail on the head in almost every freaking skit! I also love when Justin Timberlake is on, when he does the Bee Gees skit, funny, funny shit, I'm telling you. I crack up at weird stuff, twisted that way I guess.

Well, I hope your weekend fairs better, my dear. I too am blue for lots of reasons, but I am trying hard to "keep my pecker up" as my Canadian friends say or "look on the bright side" as UH told me, or "don't get your boobs in a knot" as an ex-boyfriend once told me, or "shut up with the whining and feed us!" as my lazy, no job having cats often meow, or "at least you're not turning tricks for bus pass fare" as my friends say or...well, you get my drift.

I'm enjoying my time catching up on JSS as his music soothes my soul.
:P

I look foward to working out. It's a natural high & you look & feel better. My muscles devour weights. I did get complaceent for a while but mostly I was at the gym almost every day for at least an hour. Don't feel bad as abs are the most challenging. Got to go the situps where you lift the legs. Exercise esp weight bearing is important & I am very proud of myself for putting in the time. As for my friend they are someone from the gym who reminded me alot of JSS. I thought they were a friend but I am sadly disappointed. That's life & not all men are created equal...LOL

Been a long day & I'm looking foward to falling into the bed & drifting into sweet dreams!

It's not a bad album, not IMO not worth the hype it got from everyone here and the review on MR.com. I'd give it a solid 84/100 score which isn't bad, but not a perfect album. The first 4-5 songs are very good, the rest of the album has some filler on it that I can do without. I personally prefer JSS's last 2 solo efforts over this.

Just got the album, and I am really digging it. A great album. Better than 84/100 for sure!!!!

I hope Neal Schon hears this album and kicks himself. IMO, when I heard JSS was lead singer for Journey, THIS is what I pictured a Journey album with him fronting it would sound like.

Oh yeah, 'If I Fall' out-Journeys Journey.

I know I chimed in already, but after it all set in months down the road, I pretty much love every song on the album and is quickly turning into one of my favorite albums, if not already. Completley blows anything else out of the water from what I've listened to within the year. If I had to pick one, and it's damn hard to choose a favorite, I'd go with One Day At A Time VS My Everything. ODAT is very powerful within its lyrics and has deep soul meaning while My Everything is as upbeats as it gets and is very catchy. Love the entire album.

Couldn't agree more, Lorrie! You know me, I'm a vocals gal...........and If I Fall is easily my fave off the cd. Great soulful delivery. Kinda bittersweet though, cuz I can sooooooooooo hear where Journey could have possibly gone with JSS fronting.

Also agree with Trav, My Everything is a definite favorite too, along with Running From The Heartache.

i love it. it's new, but comforting. in looking at all JSS has done, you can only sit back and admire it. WET is like a Resurrection of the power band but at a perfect time.

this is why i love music.

It's the shitty way of the world and the climate of the music/entertainment industry nowadays.
Pick any one album from Jeff's solo catalog, zip back in time and release it in the years
1982-1988... INSTANT SMASH! Release W.E.T. in 1984-1988... It would be talked about NOW
as one of the greatest melodic rock albums of all time.

The public "listens to and buys" what Big Corporate radio/TV programs them
to listen to and buy. It's pretty sad... Artists like Jeff suffer...

You are exactly right!

Get a grip, dude. The reason this album isn't "huge" is because, like virtually all of his work, it falls in the range of somewhere between mediocre/average and good/above average. Nothing bad, but nothing spectatcular. If you're anticipating the type of success that your above post suggests, you'd better start looking for Mr. Rourke and Tattoo. Besides, virtually no one, including U2, Bon Jovi and/or The Eagles are going to have that kind of success in today's music climate. That said, I've always felt that W.E.T. was probably about an 83/100. :)

Recently I have been taking less and less chances on buying music from new artists/projects, but as an avid reader of the site I checked out the review for the "W.E.T." album and listened to some samples. I was immediately interested with what I heard and decided to get the album.

I am glad I did as it was one of my favorite releases from '09...real quality melodic rock. JSS's voice is in fine form throughout and the songwriting is definitely strong. The first five tracks are great right out of the box. I wasn't really familiar with Erik Martennson but I came away impressed with his writing and production chops. Also some very good guitar playing throughout. Hope there is a second album on the way from these guys....

I thought it might be best to start a thread relating to the W.E.T. CD/DVD and the opinion of the people buying the album.

With all reviewers giving it stunning ratings, it comes down to the fans of melodic rock music to have their say.

So, let me know what YOU think and give your rating.

I got mine only last week...what can I say? It's awesome...there's some songs that grabs you at his first seconds...Invincible is one of these songs...the rest of the album is enjoyable. If I Fall and Brothers in Arms are also my favorite songs on this album.
