But seriously, good on him. This is down the road from me. And on a Saturday. And at a winery. Maybe I'll go and see what's up with the former Journey frontman. Though I have never had a good MN wine, to be honest.

WoW ... I guess I missed that tour too.
But I did catch a few tours, that this guy named Steve Perry
stood in as lead singer, for this guy. This Perry guy was quite
good. Wonder what he's doing nowadays or did he ever make
it big ?

Perry's good natured bonhomie & the world’s most charmin smile, knocked fans off their feet. Sportin a black tux, gigs came alive as he swished around the stage thrillin audiences w/ charisma that instantly burnt the oxygen right out of the venue.TR.com

I thought Andy Avery was the first guy after Perry?

Actually they are stretching here, but he did fill in for him at least once.

25-400  dollars?

for 400 dollars I better get to take a barrel home. :D
honestly it is for a good cause but there is no way I'd pay for this.
but been to the winery and Waconia is a great little town.

Maybe they're just referring to Herbie Herbert roast performance?

The description is not inaccurate. KC stood in for Perry at the roast. Look folks - Kevin has to eat and pay the bills. Just go and have a nice time.

The way I read it, the $400 is for a table of 8, a meet and greet, maybe a CD or something. And 2 bottles of wine.

If you go, please report back. Listen to these tunes and tell me KC does not have the Journey sound. Hugo always had a teeny tiny head voice. Kevin belts this shit with power.

Faithfully by Kevin C. from a few months ago. Slowed down, but still excellent.

Can someone post links to those songs he did that were written for Journey Pre-TBF?

This is the only one I know of. Schon/KC/Rolie co-write.

Love this song and as much as Augeri did great on Arrival, wish we would have heard a Rolie/Schon/Chalfant project after the TBF. Maybe we will get one next year? :)

Go to 2:40: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjfhzyxJtF0&t=346s

Interviewer: "What was it like playing with Journey FOR A YEAR?"

Truthful answer should have been: "Well, I actually only played with Journey ONE TIME at a party/roast for Herbie Herbert."

Instead, he does the dodge and weave and gives this vague answer about working with The Vu, The Storm, and how things just progressed, and he wrote some songs with Gregg and Neal, etc. That's NOT Journey. He is being purposefully misleading.

I like Kevin's music, but don't like it when people who have limited work with a band present themselves as more than that. Randy Jackson and Michael Baird have a greater claim to playing with Journey than KC. He needs to be honest about it and not ride the coattails of other people's hard work.

At least he went for it. I've seen some certain Journey singers duck that part completely. Or use tape. Other Journey singers have a lot of echo effect on that part when they do it live now also.

Wow! One of the best non-Journey songs ever, imo.
Maybe Schon & Rolie stretch this out in a bluesy way and put it on a future album.
(Or maybe just do a one-of for ITunes, Spotify, etc.)

You're also hearing him 20 years after the fact. Kevin Chalfant of 2017 is not the Kevin Chalfant of the mid 90s. No real surprise that he's lost a little bit of the top end.

This is the Chalfant of the mid 90s, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krIz7DGdWw8. I think it's safe to say he had the natural range for that note back then.

What I wouldn't give to hear a recording of the Herbie Herbert roast concert. Regardless of how far things progressed (co-writing songs suggests it did go a little ways), being on stage and singing with Journey gives Chalfant a special place that very few singers can match.
