Venerable TV journalist Dan Rather returns for season seven of the sit-down celebrity interview series to get personal with iconic music-makers and other famous folks. Tonight it’s Steve Perry, the former front man of the classic rock band Journey, who talks about his decision to leave the group at the peak of its success. Other interviewees this season will include Paul Stanley of KISS, Cyndi Lauper and comedic genius Carl Reiner and his filmmaker son, Carl Reiner (8 p.m., AXS TV).

He acknowledge his daug and 2 gkids. But thats all he would say on that.
To me, the 2nd half of the interview was more interesting. Yeah a couple new
insights.

I thought it was a fantastic interview. Dan Rather let Steve paint a picture for us that he's never painted before...nor did he have to. And I was glad that the 'future with Journey' conversation was avoided. That was a chapter in his life and it is now closed. I'm very happy to see that he is enjoying his life and career again, and every little nugget that he's put out as of late has been of pure passion for him and enjoyment for his fans. Would much rather see him continue to produce what he has as of late and enjoy it, rather than burn out on another tour that apparently everyone but himself wants to see happen.

Wow, thanks for the link, Yeah, will never understand Perry, (Enigma is a good term) but love his voice and his songwriting.

A great interview, but why does the interviewer or Perry gloss over him finishing a second solo record that started in late 1984 and finished in 1988 never to be released or from 92-95 assembling a band, recording, and touring behind it.

Glad the intro at least showed a brief peek at Trial by Fire.

To me he "left" Journey in 1998 not 1987.

And still he still kept in the music business at least partly to 2001.

All in all glad he is still plugging traces, and glad he he pushing We're Still Here which is my favorite on the album.

And yeah, Perry singing live is always great. Him doing the Crests was awesome.

Was a good interview for what it is. I enjoyed it. Once again the 90s barely existed though. Nothing regarding any future plans though

He's such a different person. Starting to wonder if he has any Rock left in him. I am going to remain optimistic that he will perform at some point.
