NP: I Can Fly ~ Kansas...Great hard rocking tune from their "Freaks of Nature" (1995) album.

Yngwie Malmsteen has a pretty good cover of that song on his "Inspiration" album.

I have never gotten around to buying his solo albums. How are they compared to his Rainbow stuff (I have all of that plus the first Hughes Turner Project album)? Which of his solo albums do you think is a must-have?

NP: Have A Drink On Me - AC/DC

The only solo album of his that I'm very familiar with at all is his "The Usual Suspects" from 2005. It's very good and Turner sounds in good form on it. It's much better than his Rainbow material, in my opinion.

OK, interesting! I will give it a whirl I think, I have heard it praised elsewhere as well... I can then recommend the first HTP album (haven't heard the second), which he does along with fellow ex-Deep Purple singer Glenn Hughes. Brilliant, especially the track called Fade Away!

NP: Broken Promises - Survivor (killer track)

Great track off a stunner of a disc! Incredible that their creative power is so strong still. Have you seen them live recently? I saw them on their Rapture Of The Deep Tour, an incredible experience!

The only time I've seen them was on June 29th, 2001, on their tour with Ted Nugent and Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was a great show and I actually had free tickets to that show.

Cool Smile I have seen them three times now, in 1991 (with Joe Lynn Turner), in 2003 (Bananas Tour) and earlier this year. I still regret to this day that I didn't manage to see them in 1993 on their Battle Rages On Tour, as it was the last time Gillan and Blackmore shared a stage.

Yeah, I get the feeling that Blackmore will never share the stage with Deep Purple again. I've heard that he is very difficult to work with.

Yes he is Very Happy I like to think of him as the Lars Von Trier of music. He has done some amazingly brutal stuff to the people surrouding him during the years. He likes "practical jokes" i.e. thrashing JLT's hotel room in Copenhagen and sticking him with the manager, pouring shampoo in his bed, smashing Roger Glover's room door with an axe and replacing the passport photo of a Danish concert promotor with a pic of E.T Shocked .

Also, he is prone to just walking off the stage in the middle of a song if the mood strikes him. He still does that with his current band, Blackmore's Night, with his wife on vocals and everything.

He plays this god awful medieval rock now. Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice has made this precious joke that he had been "pre-minstrel" all the years with them Laughing

No one can deny his genious though Wink
