Def Lep/Aerosmith 2007 Summer Tour?

Postby Defshep » Wed Jul 19, 2006 2:40 am

According to www.deflepparduk.com, rumours are swirling again of a Lep/Aerosmith pairing. Since Aerosmith is touring with Motley Crue right now, it would make sense. I guess that means another greatest hits tour, since they won't have a new disc out by then...or could they?

New album by 2007???

Postby I Am Canadian » Wed Jul 19, 2006 1:44 pm

No way in hell the Lepps have a new album ready before the summer of 2007...that would be out of character!! They're going to be touring to October/November of this year.....that would be 5-6 months to get a new album out. Phil did say the Lepps should do the new album with more of a live feel making it quicker....but still too hard to believe...summer of 2008 would be a better bet knowing their history!

It doesn't matter if they put a new disc out or not (which they won't), they will still play a greatest hits set peppered here and there with a few cheesy, stupid songs. If they are touring with another big band (like Aerosmith), then you're really screwed because they'll only have 80-minutes or so to play. There's no room for experimentation.

You might hear one new song, but I guarantee it won't be a cool, rockin' album track like Don't Belive A Word off of YEAH!. If they play anything off of a supposed new album live it will surely be the most watered down, laughable piece of crap on the entire album (ala Rock On). I'm really surprised that they don't start playing Gravity or 21st Century Sha La La La Girl somewhere in the set. It fits their current modus operandi.

I bet I can write the setlist for next year's tour right now. It will go something like this:

Let's Get Rocked
Make Love Like A Man
Promises
Rock On
Hysteria
Rocket
Animal
Rock of Ages
Foolin'
Photograph
Pour Some Sugar On Me

and if they really want to cheese it up they can come out and play Two Steps Behind somewhere in the show.

Velveeta! HeHe! Well, if it does happen with Aerosmith, maybe it'll be a harder rockin' show than with Journey. It would be nice to hear "Rock Rock", "Stagefright", "Gods of War", etc. And if something must be played off Adrenalize, please be "Tear It Down"!
Maybe the Leps are excited with the way this tour is selling, so they want to continue the momentum. Another tour next year before a new album is out sounds a little greedy, though.

Lep should jump at the chance to perform with Aerosmith. That would be a large tour and audience.
I definately don't see a new CD out that fast. If they couldn't pull it off with a simple "covers" CD there is no way in hell they can do it with new material.
If they DO have new material, I think they would still play 2-4 songs off of it and then stick to the same ole same ole setlist.
I think it is funny that Journey gets to rock harder by touring with Def Leppard and the thought is that Def Leppard will get to rock harder by touring with Aerosmith.

If this tour does happen next summer Aerosmith will close out each show. I would rather have Def Leppard do an "Evening With Def Leppard" so that way we can hear other songs from their catalog like "Gods Of War", "Billy Got A Gun", "Stagefright", "Die Hard The Hunter", "Demolation Man" along with others.

Sounds a wonderful pairing, but the chances of that tour making it over to the UK is as good as Lennon coming back from the dead with Harrison and reforming The Beatles!!

Thanx Jrnyman! Got it from the Queen website...a bit naughty, but its promo for the site so i'm sure they won't mind!

I got the new Evanessence album at the weekend and i have to say i'm totally blown away by it! I just love the way they mix Classical styles with Rock, so inventive and anthemic. Amy is absolutely wonderful on this record.

But, I read on the OS that the Lepps were going to stay in Europe in 2007 -- with possible hops to Australia. And definitely not the US ....

I wonder if Aerosmith is planning a European tour ... ?

eeesh! I hope they work on new stuff before touring again. There is only so much of the "greatest hits" setlist one can take.
Of course I say all that but if they tour next year, I'll be the first person in line buying tickets.

This is what ive heard here in Canada through various media outlets.

Lepps will Tour in the summer of 2007 into 2008

Europe
Japan
Australia
Canada

and break and Tour the US in Arena's Late 2007 - Early 2008

but ive heard nothing about an Aero Tour. Thats a New one for me. I really dont see Leppard Opening for Aerosmith as it would be a step back for them as a headliner. Not a good move on their part especially after the great tours they've had these past few years. Best thing leppard ever did was change management. Q Prime needed to go.

I've seen both of them live and know that would be a kick ass show. However, I don't think that would happen considering both bands probably want to rest for a while from touring all 2006, but Aerosmith is coming out with a new album next year, so I guess there's a chance.

Def Leppard is doing a world tour next summer fall into 2008. Europe, Australia, Japan and Canada and possibly US Dates.

A New Album in Late 07 early 08.
