Finally scored this book for a decent price after years of watching numerous copies go close to $100 on eBay...
Not quite finished reading it yet but man o man how good were these guys back when? Firstly I'm not trying to slam the current stuff and respect anyone for enjoying the music regardless, but on the eve of releasing Hysteria these guys were just itching to break huge. Just so many memories and the original excitement come flooding back while reading this book and if you've not read it I highly recommend if you are a fan of the band you hunt this out!
David Fricke had at the time and continued writing for Rolling Stone so the writing and research for this book was obviously very good. Fricke worked through the book while with the band (authorized bio) and the book is much better for it than many other books I've looked through.
To be honest I do wonder why the band haven't given Fricke the okay to return to the book and cover the years since (for example the loss of Steve Clark) as it really deserves another edition.
Happy hunting!
