Revelation - Japanese Bonus Track

Postby Andrew » Wed Aug 13, 2008 12:54 pm

is.... a new version of The Place In Your Heart. Re-recorded with Arnel from the Generations record, just as Faith In The Heartland was.

2CD set is out October 8.

The Japanese have been very supportive of Journey historically and their "bonus" is a re-record of a shitty song? It should have been called a "Boner" rather than a "Bonus" because they got fucked in the ass.

TPIYH had potential. SA's vox was drowned out by the geetar and it all sounded muddy. I predict the new version with AP is gonna be great.

Rather that than Every Generation, the FITH redux, or gag me, Butterfly.

Cool, I'm game, since I'll be in Japan at about that time anyways, won't hurt to give it a try.

Man you guys are brutal. A terrific song from Generations, definitely looking forward to Arnel's take, especially if it's anywhere on par with the FITHL redo.

Stupid question, but why is everyone so down on FITH? I hear alot of bad things about that song, but that is one of my favorites off both Generations and Revelation?

They should have redone "Little Girl", if they were dead set on doing a retread. At least that would have been something that might have some significance in that market since it came off a Japanese sountrack originally.

They screwed up FITH when redone from a prodcution standpoint , sounds pussified compared to the Generations version, at least in my opinion. Arnel sings the song well, just partial to Augeri's version. No doubt Arnel will do this one justice, but I'll be interested to see if Shirely, Cain, and Schon messed with the production like they did with FITH.

I am sure Cain and Schon have redone some of the Augeri tracks with Arnel to gauge feedback. Notice they played FITH in the first Vegas show, but most people on MR thought the redone version wasn't good compared to the original, and it hasn't made the setlist since. Of course to balance out that argument, there are those who complain they are complelely ignoring the Augeri years. Can't win.

lol...The man in the 24 karat gold litter box wouldn't like that!!! That said, I think Arnel could really shine on some of the TBF tunes. It would be nice to hear what some of the faster songs would sound like with a great voice. Perry just had nothing in the tank with any of the songs other than the ballads.

I didn't realize Revelation hadn't been released in Japan yet....has it been released officially in Australia, Andrew? And do you think Journey will make a stop down under as an extension of their upcoming Asian tour in February?

Err... no. That's another great J song that was FINE the 1st time. Enough of this re-recording shit. Bad enough they (or walmart, or whoever approved the promo material) are trying to pass off FITH as a new song. Now this? Do NEW stuff or hang it up.

Maybe they should take a shot at redoing "Gone Crazy"?

I'm not sure how much polishing that turd would need (except that I doubt there's enough Turtle Wax on Earth), but if Arnel is as phenomenal as everyone believes, let's see him prove it with THAT piece of shit tune.  (and that's not a shot at Arnel, so no one start with me)
